As I walked from the cafeteria to Shiloh's room with a sandwich my hands shook aggresively. Shiloh had been doing great, but his eyes were still different and I never thought to ask if he knew.

I sat the sandwich down on the table, but I just stared at it for a moment.

Then I finally asked Shiloh,"Sweety, have you noticed anything different about yourself?"

He looked up at me without changing his expression saying,"Why, do you?"

"Well, umm, yes. Your eyes. They are different now."

"I know."

"But do you know why, or how they got that way?"

"Yes."

It dawned on me then that he was just talking all around what I wanted him to tell me, and he knew he was. He was a lot more clever than I thought.

I smiled nervously before I said,"Then how did they get that way?"

He fidgeted for a second as he took a few deep breaths. I tried to touch his hand, but he pulled away.

He finally decided to say what was on his mind.

"Mom...I just want you to know that I am not crazy. Teras visited me, and he told me lots of things. Lots of scary things."

"Who is Teras?"

"I'm not really sure, but he said he is going to control every human he wants."

"Shiloh, really, who filled your brain with all of this nonsense? Was it someone in the hospital?"

"No, Mom! I'm not lying! He came to see me at home. He isn't human."

I looked down in disbelief. Could this Teras be the figure I saw hovering over that little girl? Is he the one who did this to my hand?

I nodded my head as I said,"But how could this happen?"

Shiloh could only stare now. He didn't flinch at all when Will came walking in.

I immediately stood up expecting him to tell us we could go home, but he just sort of stood there.

I broke the silence saying,"Will...Uhh. What is going on?"

He shook his head hopelessly as he stared into my eyes.

"Is something wrong?"

"Uh..Evie, can I please talk to you outside for just a moment?"

I looked from him to Shiloh and nodded my head. We walked outside, and I leaned against the wall as Will stood in front of me. I nervously rubbed my hands together as he situated his papers.

"Look, Evie. I don't understand this, but Shiloh's blood work came back with something very unusual. We have only seen it once before at this hospital."

"Well. What is it?"

"See I can't tell you because we don't know what it is. We contacted several people to come study it the last time, but by the time they got here it was too late."

"Wait. What do you mean too late. What happened the last time?"

I was angry now, and Will could tell because his hands were trembling as he tried to give me answers.

"I am not saying he will die before the specialists come in, but the virus will..umm..die. I guess. It just disappears. Like I said we are not completely sure about this. It has only happened once before...to a little girl about the same age as Shiloh."

"A girl? How long ago was this?"

He was sweating profusely, but he seemed to keep a very concentrating expression on his face as he said,"A week or two ago. She just recently died."

"Oh my god."

My eyes widened, and I started hyperventilating. My breaths became shallower and shallower until I felt like I couldn't breathe anymore.

Will was holding me on the ground. I could hear his voice slowly fading away.

The lights in the hall of the hospital began shining straight into my eyes. I could no longer see Will or the people that surrounded me. I could only hear the echoes of Will trying to wake me up, but I couldn't wake up.

I couldn't face the fact that the figure I had witnessed hovering over a little girl was this Teras that my own son had described to me.

I couldn't face the fact that maybe supernatural things actually do exist in the world around us, and they could hurt us if they wanted...
