FIVE
Jason Hargrove walked down the white hall, with doors as far as one could see on both sides. He was walking with Andrea Silverman, they both wore the Uniform of the UN Space Force, and both the patch for the Pilot's Branch. Jason was tall, dark haired, a little brownish in skin color, and looked like he could handle himself, the woman was small, only about five foot, but also looked like she was muscled.
Andrea said, "They are going to bring him here?" The tone of voice was incredulous.
Jason replied, "Yes, they said that She thinks that the machines here can dampen his powers, enough so that he can be trained to use them."
Andrea made a face as they kept on walking, some of the doors were open, inside the rooms people were working, some in white lab coats, others in the uniform of the Space Force. She came back at him with, "What is this the fourth try, one would think that even She would give up?"
Jason laughed, he looked at the woman and said, "you do know her right?" She nodded, and he went on, "you know that once she decides that something is going to happen then it will."
"But didn't the last attempt wipe out a dome on Luna?"
"No," he said, "that is a tall tale, it took out a few unoccupied building in the training sector," he said, with a kind of smile.
The woman was not satisfied, she said, "Who is going to try to train him now, it has to be a Red, that is highest loyalist that we have?"
Jason said, "Well as a matter of fact, it is me?" He let her look at him ashen, worried, then he said, "I was hoping you would help, we have worked together before."
She looked up at him saying, "when they are picking up the pieces someone will say, They had worked together before."
He looked up smiling saying, "Good I am glad you will help."
She said, "are we going to get updated daily?"
He replied, "that is the protocol with that powerful of a talent."
She stopped and looking worried said, "I was joking!"
He looked at her and said, "I was not. This is dangerous and we need to be prepared to lose as little data as possible."
She was still stopped when the lights flashed, Jason looked down the hall, "Well that is the sign that they are ready to wake him, want to come and see?"
She said, "Sure, I have never met a god before."
He replied, "I am glad you used the little g, and neither have I lets go."
Both of them hurried down the hall, eventually they turned into a room on the right.
The hall was over two miles long, with doors about every 20 meters, which put roughly 160 doors on each side. The hall was lighted by a type of LED light that was far in advance of things that humans would be making for years to come. They could now, but it had been decided that the technology from these rooms would be released slowly so as to cause as little disruption to humanity as possible.
Each of the rooms held technology, about half had been talked about in the teaching modules that were being given to those who had the basic ability to kind of understand or who had the talent to do it. It was almost 50 years since the discovery and only about a 10th of the technology was used generally, and about 30% by the Space Force unknown to most of the world.
So as she walked down the hall Tammi Smith knew she was walking through history and the future at the same time. She could not believe that the lighting system had been in place for almost 10,000 years, and that it was working with minimal repair. It was funny that the things that had broken down most were the maintenance system for the complex. She passed Room 123B, in that room she knew, were the secrets to Gravity compensators. The room had an outer room that they had gotten in to and given enough so that they had some Gravity dampening for acceleration. However, the door behind the room, would not open, about ¾ of the rooms that were here had that. It seemed that the Builders, all that they knew to call them, knew when they needed to move on, as two doors had opened when the technology was used extensively. The next room had held more knowledge on the subject and made the old stuff obsolete, but it was good, as the new would have caused problems. She knew that from reports, the what would have been bad was not said, but that was the Space Force. The right hand did not normally talk to the left. The boss had set up the system to keep technology from being pirated. There were limited people to question when technology went on the open market without authorization. The Space Force was also not limited to what they could do and could find who had done it, in short order. Those people were not around any longer.
