The Shifters of Wings and Fur

part twenty three

I landed on the roof of my house and dropped into my room through the hole in my roof. I shifted and ran down the stairs. I found airos still asleep and snoring like CRAZY. I poked his shoulder and he woke up, stretching his arms to full length. I yelped when his hand hit my eye. "Oops sorry." He said yawning in the process. I rubbed my eye and grabbed his arm ushering him to follow. I shifted and flew into the sky, now noticing i was completely black with gold and royal purple markings. Airos was hot on my tail but obviously didnt have the speed to catch up with me. I flipped in the sky and dove, spreading my wings at the last minute. I flapped my wings and landed on the ground, shifting midfall. Airos landed on the blanket and shifted, getting tackled by all ten of his friends. " get off me!" He yelled, although it sounded like a whisper due to the pile of people on top of him. I laughed and plopped myself on the pile and just chilled on the pile of people. A dragon flew down and dropped on the pile. " i cant breathe!" Airos yelled again and the pile dispersed. "Ok everyone! First of all, its airos's birthday today, so he gets to choose what we do first." I said as airos looked around." Lets play the hunting game." He finally said with happiness on his face. I shifted and told everyone the rules. " so the person who is it has a blindfold over their eyes and has to rely on only their senses. Eveyone else has to avoid the person who is it. And no flying." Every one shifted exept me, so i could blindfold airos. " stay in the area i had jacob mark with a yellow ribbon, and if your it, fynn rubbed fish on the ribbon." I shifted and bolted into the forest. The scent of fish was clear where i stood. I dug into the ground and made a little den. I crawled out and howled, giving off my position. I crawled into my den and covered the hole with a thin layer of dirt. Airos flew over the hole and landed on the base of the hill. I crawled farther into my den and dug my way out through the other side of the hill. I bolted and ran into zaphod, the dragon. I continued to run, right into a tree. I shook my now bleeding head, and turned around to see airos right behind me. I shifted, losing my scent, and carefully stepped to the side,and said," you got me!" So he would run into the tree instead of me. I shifted and bolted, and ran to the bell to end the game. Airos pulled the blindfold off and threw it in a pile of random items. " so what do you wanna do now?" He asked, obviously gesturing for me to choose a game. "How about flight tag? I found out that i can give everyone wings by touching their shoulders with my wings." Everyone cheered and i gave the shifters without wings a pair of temporary wings and flew as high as i could. " just avoid each other and stay within the lit area!" I yelled as i dove to avoid airos's paws. Zaphod flew at me and i closed my wings, causing me to fall a little bit. I spread my wings and flew straight up, tagging zaphod and jacob. "Out!" I yelled as they flew to the ground.
