Before the beginning (a shadowhunter fanfic)

Chapter four

'Jace, what was that?' Alec asked.

'What was what?' Jace asked.

'You just gave your shoes away to that warlock girl.' Alec told hm.

'Her shoes were falling apart.' Jace explained.

Alec rolled his eyes.

'Come on i'll get you a pair of my shoes.' Alec told Jace.

Jace followed Alec up to his room, Jace had never been in Alecs room before.

Jace walked into Alec room and looked around while Alec was getting shoes.

'We'd better hurry.' Alec explained. 'We have to learn Latin with Hodge soon.'

'ego iam scire Latine, Alec.' Jace told him.

Alec tilted his head in confusion.

'I already know Latin.' Jace explained.

Alec nodded pulling out three pairs of shoes.

'Choose a pair.' Alec told him.

'Okey.' Jace replied.

Jace chose the black pair, that had white laces, they were a little big but they were fine.

'Come on, let's go.' Alec told him.

Jace followed Alec down the halls until they made it to the same classroom they were in for mundane studies.

Izzy was packing up her stuff.

'Are we late, did we miss it?' Jace asked.

'No, your on time, but all classes are over for the day, Hodge had a meeting.' Izzy explained.

'Okey.' Alec shrugged.

'Guys aren't you a little curious, about what Hodge is doing.' Jace asked.

'Jace it's a meeting, it can't be anything interesting.' Alec told him.

'Okey then, I guess I'll go alone.' Jace explained and walked away.

'Jace, no.' Izzy called.

'Jace, yes.' Jace called back.

'Jace, no' Alec called.

'Jace, yes.' He repeated.

Alec and Izzy ran after him and followed him to the library.

They hid behind a book case and watched.

'Oh.' Jace whispered. 'This is just a boring meeting.'

Hodge was speaking to the same warlock that brought him to New York, the one with cat eyes.

'That's the warlock who brought me through the portal.'

'He's Magnus Bane, the high warlock of Brooklyn.' Alec explained.

'He's hot, isn't he Alec.' Izzy said.

Alecs entire face went red and Jace decided that this must be a very awkward question for him, so Jace answered for him.

'He is hot.' Jace explained. 'But not as hot as me.'

'Your very cocky, Wayland.' Izzy told him.

The warlock turned his head sharply looking towards towards the kids, he smiled softly and winked.

'Is everything alright, Mr. Bane?' Hodge asked.

'Yes I just thought I heard something.' Magnus explained.

Jace whispered to Izzy and Alec to run, and they did so Jace running behind them.

'See I told you nothing interesting would happen.' Izzy told Jace.
