'Enter' says a voice from within. Nadi swings the door open and steps inside. I pull the door shut behind me as Nadi walks over to the desk and places the scotch on the desk. A large muscular person steps out of the corner of the room and moves to the desk.
'Thanks Nadi' the man said moving away corner and sitting at his desk.
'No worries Luci' Nadi said moving to my side. 'Who do we have here?' The man said looking towards me.
'I'm Bonnie sir. Bonnie Banner.'
'An Aussie!' He said standing up and moving around the desk to shake my hand.
'So what brings you to this side of the globe?' He asked leaning back and picking up the drink Nadi brought in. Nadi jumps in before I can answer.
'Do you know of any jobs going at the moment?' The man turns to look at Nadi and gave her a big smile.
'As a matter of fact I know of a personal assistants job going and they are having interviews tomorrow. I'll send them an email tell them that you will be there.' Luci said moving back behind his desk.
'Thank you so much sir' I say very excitedly. He hands me a card with all the information on it. I quickly scan over it before safety tucking it in my wallet. Luci turns to Nadi
'Will I be seeing you tomorrow?'
'Yes definitely!' She replied quickly. I still don't exactly know what Nadi does for work or what her relationship with this man was but I made a mental note to ask her about it later.
'Ok let get our dance on lovely' Nadi said turning to me
'Copy that boss' i turn back to Luci.
'Thanks again for the job information I really appreciate it'
'Not a problem now you girls enjoy your night' Nadi and I move out the door and close it behind us.We partied till midnight, then I dragged Nadi in to an Uber and headed back home. Once we had been dropped off I carried Nadi to the elevator with much protest. I propped her up in the corner and pulled the card with all the information for tomorrow's interview. I set my self an alarm and wrote a list of all the things I would need tomorrow. I then drag her the rest of the way into the apartment and drop her on the the spare bed on the floor. I pull her shoes off and tuck her in. I wonder down the hallway to my room and start undressing cursing at myself for staying out so late. Tomorrow is going to suck with a hangover. I quickly brush my teeth and double checked I have everything before taking two painkillers and falling straight to sleep.
I roll out of bed at the sound of my alarm going off.
'Ahhh Righto let's do this' I go and make a quick coffee then jump in the shower to wash off the alcohol smell. I am ready to go about an hour and a half before I need to leave but I leave anyway ordering an Uber as I walk out of the apartment. When I arrive I am really early so I pop in to the coffee shop across the road. I was sitting at a table answering emails and texts when a deep voice behind me pipes up. 'Do you mind if I sit?' The man asked moving in to my field of view. I see a handsome man about my age.
'Sure!' I say. He moves to sit across from me. He looks straight at me and extends his hand towards me.
'I'm Tom' I shake his hand.
'Nice to meet you Tom I'm Bucky, ah sorry I'm Bonnie.' 'Bucky?' He questions. '
Ah it was a work nickname, long story.' I say lifting my coffee up for a quick sip.
'What brings you to LA Bonnie?' Tom asks.
'I needed a change. Home was not treating me very well anymore. How about you?'
'Work' Tom answers quickly. I notice that he doesn't really have an American accent but I couldn't place what his accent was.
'You aren't American are you?' I ask. He shakes his head 'neither are you'
'I'm Australian and I think your English' I say propping my elbows on the table and dropping my chin in to my hands. I look dead at Tom not blinking.
'What are you doing?' He asked uncomfortably leaning back in his chair.
'I'm trying to read your mind' I say still not blinking. Just then my phone buzzes on the table. I was my alarm going off.
'Omg!' I say jumping up from the table.
'I have to go but thanks for the company' I say gathering my stuff.
'Wait can I get your number?' Tom asks looking up at me. I roll my eyes and fish around in my bag for a sharpie. I find it and quickly write it on his coffee cup.
'See ya around' I wink as take off across the road. I walk in to the building listed in the email as the location for the interview 10mins before my appointment time.I walk up to the assistant at the front desk and she points me to an office door third on the left.
'Just knock on the door she will be ready for you' I nod my head in thanks and make my way down the hallway. I sharply rap on the door.
'Enter' a sweet lady's voice came through the door. I push open the door and walk in to an older southern woman was sitting on the other side of the desk. She stands up and extends her hand towards me.
'My names Sarah' she said sitting back in her chair.
'I'm Bonnie.' I say plopping myself in to one of the seats on this side of her desk.
'We are just waiting on my young coworkers, it seems he is running a bit late.' As soon as the word left her mouth there came a knock at the door. She smiles at the door.
'Come on in love.' She shouted at the door. I turn to look as the door swung open. If I wasn't so good at hiding my emotions I think my chin would have hit the floor. Tom looked up and his eyes met mine and he cocked his head in surprise. Still in his hand was his coffee cup with my phone number on it and I smile at that
'Hi!' He said happily sitting next to me.
'Hi' I say echoing his greeting.
'I take it you two already know each other?' Sarah asks smiling at the two of us.
'Ah we just meet a minute ago at coffee' Tom answers still looking at me.
'Ok then you good to start Bonnie?' She asks shuffling some papers on her desk.
'Oh yea of course.' I lean down and grab two copies of my resume from my bag and hand one to each of them. We say in silence for just over 5 minutes and just long enough for me to start freaking out.
'Well you have a very impressive resume Bonnie. And your work experience was done with Anna Hathaway?' She ask looking back down at my resume.
'Yes, Anna runs a very tight ship and I still use a lot of the stuff she taught me.' I say crossing my legs in front of me. Out of the corner of my eye I catch Tom looking a me.
'Well I don't even have any questions for you. I'm very happy with you and your application. Do you have any questions Tom?' She asks looking at him.
'Earth to Tom' she waves a hand out in front of her trying to get his attention.
'Sorry what's up?' He asks snapping out of his trance.
'Do you have any questions for Bonnie?' Sarah asks again.
'Nah I'm very impressed.' He says looking back at me.
'Ok than.' Sarah said standing up from her desk and moving to our side.
'Well you will hear from us either way but the end for business day.' She said shaking my hand.
'Thank you so much for your time today, I really appreciate it.' I say as I gather my bag.
'Nice to meet both of you.' I say moving towards the door. But before I get there Tom is already pulling it open.
'I'll walk you out' he said gesturing to the door. I politely nod at him.
'Lovely to meet you too' Sarah said as we started out the door.I pull my phone out of my pocket and call an Uber before I get to the front desk.
'So quick question?' Tom asks moving to my side as we walk.
'Shoot' I reply
'Ahh what are you up to this weekend. I thought you might want to do coffee or something?' He asks nervously.
'Umm I have a few things on this weekend.' I say pretending to think hard about it.
'It's totally cool if you don't want to' I cut him off half way through his rant.
'I would love to' I say almost laughing at his expression.
'How does dinner at mine tomorrow night sound?'
'Yes perfect.' Tom says a little too enthusiastically. I lightly chuckle at him.
'Cool text me tomorrow and I'll send you the address.' I get a notification from Uber saying that my ride was here. Before Tom can even reply.
'So anyway I've gotta bounce, catch ya later handsome.' I wink at him and walk out of the building.
