Stanley's POV
"You'll be fine I promise, I'm sure it's a great school!" my mom said excitingly in the front seat as my dad changed his position, he was sleeping so we had to be a bit quiet."Yeah you're right," I said in a false happy voice, I was only really lying in that sentence. She isn't right at all.
I look at my excited mom in annoyance, I never wanted to move in the first place. My dad has been having a lot of careers in Derry, or I think that's what the town is called. So that's why we moved here.
I had friends back in Chicago, I felt happier there in a way. I guess it's just that I've been there for so long I never wanted to leave. But here we are, in a cramped car, the air dry and stiff. It feels uncomfortable as hell by the way.
You know, sometimes I wonder if I'll even fit in. I'm not a social person, talking to people makes me nauseous. My stomach begins to feel tight just thinking about it.
"I have to drive for at least half an hour now, you okay back there?"
I nod and smile at her, I turned my head to the window and looked at the grey depressing sky above me, focusing on the small clouds clumping together one by one. An anxiety feeling rolls through me as I think about the school and the town itself.
"Hey, mom? Can I ask you something?"
My mom looked at me, in the eyes through the rear mirror in the car "Sure Stanley, what is it"
"Are we ever gonna go back to Chicago?" I didn't like the feeling as the words slipped past my tongue. I looked down at my fidgeting hands, clammy and cold.
"Mmm I'm not so sure, we aren't going to be leaving anytime soon, that's all I know"
"Oh..okay!"
𝐿𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑒
"Why? Are you okay?"
"Yeah no I'm fine, I just wanted to know"
𝐼'𝑚 𝑓𝑢𝑐𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 ℎ𝑜𝑟𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑘𝑠 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑎𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔!
"Okay.." my mom said with a laugh
I'm not gonna survive I'm not gonna survive. People are gonna hate me, everyone will stare at me when I come in and out of class, people are gonna be rude to me people are gonna-
"Stanley!! We're finally here!"
I looked at the windshield of our car, it was a small town. That's basically what I expected, people were walking, and there were cars parked, it didn't seem as bad as I thought.
We passed houses and stores, why did I think this was bad? It's not that bad.
"See? It's not that bad, you'll survive trust me"
I chuckled, maybe my mom was right. It's not gonna be that bad, it seems cool. You know perhaps living here won't be that horrible, but there is still school I have to check out, that's gonna be a fucking blast.
"maybe you'll soon hang out with those kids over there," my mom said in pure happiness.
We slowly pass a field, 6 people were sitting down in the grass. Laughing and talking. At least that's what it looked like from my view. But you know what they always say, salt looks like sugar.
"Yeah... Maybe" I said with curiosity
Our beige car speeds up with a sputtering sound, it's quite loud and sorta embarrassing if you think about it.

Stanley's POV
"Alright, welcome to our new house"I looked at the dark grey house, it didn't seem bad either. Maybe things were finally turning around, in my opinion.
"Woah, it's not that bad," I said laughing nervously
My mom gave in a laugh back and started to open the trunk of our car and unlocked her iPhone to call our moving van.
My father glared at me and snarled. he's always been like this. Like what you ask? Well, grumpy and gloomy. But he's been that way since I was 5.
He can be an ass sometimes, my mom and he gets into arguments. I remember back in Chicago, they would get into arguments about money. I always hear glass shattering and walls being punched. But that's normal for everyone right?
I don't worry about it too much though, my dad yelled at me once that it's none of my concern. I remember that day too well.
"Oh- Yeah no that's fine we can wait a few days! It's totally fine- mhm- ok bye bye now thank you!" my mom hung up the phone and rubbed her face with her hands

"What happened?" I said in a concerning voice.
"The van won't be here till next Thursday" my mom sighed
"Are you serious?" my dad said angry, I can already see the anger is growing inside of him.
"what day Is it today?" I asked
"Monday"
"Ugh!" my dad let out angrily, he was mad. I could see it in his eyes.

I let out a deep sigh and started to take a box out of the car, I shuffled the keys in my hands, honestly, I could just sleep on the mattress.
"It's fine, I can sleep on the mattress," I said still carrying the box, with the house keys on top of it. I proceeded to walk in front of our house with both the keys and box.

I placed the box down and unlocked the door, the door creaked open.
it was dusty and there was a white tarp on top of the counters and the fridge. It just looked so dirty and weird, I can't wait to clean it up.
I put the box on the dusty tiled floor and stepped in. The darkness haunted me so I flicked on the light, it was dim and it needed a new light bulb. Clearly.
My mom stepped in behind me, my whole body flinched, she gasped happily.
"Isn't this great? So we could put the couch here and the light here. Oh, maybe a couple of plants here- DONALD YOU PACK THE PLANTS?"
I smiled at her and looked back to my dad who was still walking back and forth with both of his hands on his head. He looks worried. I wanted to ask if he's okay, but I didn't. I'm not going to take any chances.
"I'm sure he's fine honey," my mom said, it's like she could read my mind.
I nodded in concern, it's almost like I could like it here, but at the same time.
I don't even see a future at all
