CHAPTER 5 – A Twist Of Fate

3 days passed by and it was Thursday. Classes were over for that day and Jake was strolling through the town waiting for the time to be 4pm. As the time went by, it finally became 4pm. He rushed through the streets and finally got in time on the cliffs. When he arrived there, he was surprised to see Ryne sitting at the near edge of the cliff and looking at the beautiful view. He took careful steps near her and called out, “I didn’t expect to see you here”

“Well I was hoping I could find you here but I realized that I was a bit early so I spent the spare time appreciating nature.” Ryne said as she looks at Jake.

“Well that’s good to know.” Jake said as he sits beside Ryne, “So why were you looking for me anyways?”

“I just knew everything about Beth.”

“Who told you?”

“Bree did and please don’t get mad at her, I actually squeezed it out of her.

“Nah, it’s okay. Now you know more about me. What I need now is the fair play. Tell me something I don’t know from you.” Jake said as he flashed those cute smiles to Ryne.

“Well, I’m single since birth…” Ryne started.

“Me too.” Jake interrupted.

“My mom died when I was 3 years old and I have a cousin here.”

“You have a cousin here?” Jake asked.

“Yes I do.” Ryne replied, “She is Lisa McHale and she is studying at that school just near the boundaries.

“She’s studying at Mount Blue High.”

“I guess so.” Ryne replied, “And this reminds me, I’m seeing her this afternoon, have some little talk on the park and I was wondering if you would like to come, Well, if you’re not busy or something.”

“Yeah, sure, why not.” Jake replied with a smile on his face.

Later on that afternoon, they got off from the cliff and went to the park. There, they talked for about 15 good minutes as they wait for Lisa. Momentarily, Jake and Ryne where sitting on the grass facing the children playing. Ryne turned her head and saw Lisa walking towards them. “Lisa is here, Jake.” Ryne informed him. As Jake turned his head to see Lisa, he saw that Lisa was an attractive brunette girl, sporting a cute plain blue T-shirt with rugged Jeans and converse. He kept on staring at Lisa while she was walking and Jake was stunned by Lisa’s beauty. Moments before Lisa sat down, Jake got a hold of himself as Ryne introduced Lisa to him.

“Jake, meet Lisa, my cousin.”

“Hey Lisa.” Jake said with wonderstrucked thoughts as she shakes Lisa’s hands.

“So, Jake huh? Are you to a couple?” asked Lisa.

“Hell no!” Ryne exclaimed as he saw Jake give her a strange look.

“Not that it’s a bad thing.” Ryne said with a smile on his face.

Jake was stunned throughout the whole afternoon. Everything felt like it was in slow motion. When Lisa talked, he carefully listened. When Lisa flings her hair from the sides, Jake watched it and sees it in slow motion. An hour later, after they had talks and they played mini games, it was time for Lisa to leave. Lisa stood up and dusted off her pants.

“I wish I didn’t have to leave, you guys.” Lisa mouthed.

“Yeah, but Well see each other sometimes right?” Ryne said as Jake helped her stand up. Jake was blank all the time. That moment, that very moment, he fell in love again. He kept staring at Lisa who was really beautiful. As Lisa was giving Ryne a hug, she blurted out, “You too Jake, nice to meet you.” When Lisa reached out for Jake’s hand, Jake immediately shook her hand. Ryne couldn’t help looking at Jake which was obviously blushing and luckily, Lisa didn’t see.
