Chapter Eleven-Part One

Her words haunted my thoughts for the next few days. I hadn't told anyone about the conversation, and Jayce was nice enough to stay out of my mind. It took me a few minutes to sort out their confusing family tree. To be honest, it was really rather confusing. Apparently, Lila's daughter, Amelia, was raised by Lila's mother and father. Amelia married and later had a son, Andy. Andy got married and had Jayce. So that made Jason Jayce's great nephew, though going by birth certificates, Jason would be his grandfather. Confused? Welcome to my world.

All in all, it was giving me a headache. Not to mention that Jayce and Jason were usually found hanging out and talking on my couch. According to the few bits of information I had heard from them, Jayce had taken vacation time to hang around here. At least he went to his own place at night.

My dreams were haunted by the memory Jason had shown me. I would wake up almost every night clutching my heart, screaming. Jason would be sitting beside me, calming me with soothing words. I was exhausted. Every time I closed my eyes, I would see their last conversation, hear the gunshot, see the blood. Neither of the guys could explain why I was constantly having these dreams.

Alyssa wasn't much help either. She was becoming infatuated with Jayce. She knew she was too old for him, but that didn't stop her from trying to get me to hook up with him. Every time she was over, she felt the need to talk to him about me, or vice versa. Jason wasn't helping matters any. He kept throwing sexual innuendos at me. As if my sex life or lack thereof, was any of his concern.

Odd hadn't had any luck either. He came over to meet Jayce, and the two hit it off as if they had known each other for years. On one hand I was glad Odd made a friend, on the other, it just had to be Jayce.

"Could you three please pick up after yourselves? Remember, this is my house." Once again, I was picking up soda cans and pizza boxes.

                "Sorry sis. Want any help?"

"Thanks, Odd one, but I've got it." I was grumbling to myself as I heaved the trash bag out of the can. Jayce took it out of my hands with a smile.

                "I'll get it, darling."

"Thanks," I said to his back as he walked out the door.

In a way, I was thankful for the guys being around all the time. They didn't give me much of a chance to relive my nightmares during the day.

"So... are we any closer to finding out who sent the jacket to me?"

"No," all three replied. They were having to good a time to worry about it, but I wasn't. I wanted to know.

"Have you guys even bothered trying to find out? Jayce, who would have access to your house that would know about Jason still being here? That would know to send it to me?" I was getting angry. It was if I was the only one who cared that Jason still hadn't moved on.

"Don't get your panties in a knot. Phriek. We'll figure it out," Odd waved me off, laughing at my anger. I stomped off to my room, my mood suddenly raging.

I didn't understand the mood swings that taunted me these past few days. One minute I would be joking with the guys, the next, I was ready to punch all of them. Sometimes I felt better when everyone was in the kitchen, laughing and joking. Other times, I wanted them all out of my house and to leave me alone.

"Ya know, darling, your mood swings are gonna give someone whip lash." Jason was sprawled out on my bed, grinning at me. "Or they may think you've got a bit of a bun in the oven."

"I am not pregnant. You actually have to have sex to be pregnant." I pulled my t shirt off and let my hair out of the messy bun it was in. the scars on my torso were hardly visible, for which I was thankful.

"I'm sure Jayce would help you out with that. You're not exactly bad looking, and I've seen you staring at him. If you would just smile once in a while..."

"You, sir, are a pervert. Why are you watching me undress? And why would you say that?"

I didn't really have a problem with Jason watching me take my shirt off, I hadn't planned on removing anymore clothes until I got into the bathroom.

"Don't pretend you don't think about him. I hear you when you sleep."

                "Go jump off a bridge."

"Wouldn't work, darling, I'm already dead."

                "As if I could forget."

I headed into the bathroom, fully planning on enjoying a nice, long, hot shower.

"Hey, Phriek!" Odd yelled from the other side of the door.

                "What?"

"Jayce and I are gonna split. If you need anything, give us a call."

                "Alright. Love ya, odd ball."

"Dido."

I heard the two guys leave as I turned on the scalding water. I sat down in the bathtub and let the water pour over me from the shower head. With everything that was going on right now, I was flirting with insanity. The bad thing was, insanity was flirting right back.
