The place was quiet. No sound was heard in the long halls, but that silence was quickly interrupted by the sound of footsteps roaming in the deserted hall.

It was dark, only the light of the moon from windows and a few candles shined light to the darkness that filled the halls.

In the darkness, a (dark/light) haired male walked making his way to his squad leader. Books and notes were held in his hand. (E/c) eyes looked forward. His body led him through the familiar route that he took every day. His (s/c) skin was seen every time he walked through the light that was held in the dark hall.

He stopped and turned facing the door of his squad leader Mike. Usually he would barge in without knocking since the two were very close friends, but the small chatter on the other side of the door told him otherwise.

He raised his hand and gently knocked, not wanting to startle whoever was on the other side with his squad leader.

"Name and business." an all to familiar voice called from the other side.

"(Y/n), sir. I came to give you the rest of the notes I took from Captain Hange's lesson of their new discovery of titans." (Y/n) stood there as he heard them quickly end their chat. He quickly moved to the side as he heard a pair of steps heading towards the door.

As the door was opened a flood of light swarmed out of the room, hurting (Y/n) eyes by the sudden strike of brightness.

"We'll finish our talk later." A new voice spoke out as a figure headed out the room. As (Y/n)'s eyes adjusted to the light, all he saw was the figure of a short man. That short figure quickly changed to what it was.

A short man in a uniform with a white ascot. With an undercut, his straight raven black hair seemed to flow through the air as he walked. Piercing, narrow, and bull gray looking forward. Aside from the unnoticeable eye bags, he had nice light skin that looked young and healthy.

But this was not what caught (Y/n) attention.

What (Y/n) saw was a man. A man filled with sadness, grief, despair, and...

Loneliness.

This sight alone hurt (Y/n)'s heart. This was something he never wanted to feel. He could never and doesn't want to be in a situation where he needs to be able to handle such sadness.

"(Y/n)?" Mike called out seeing as (Y/n) didn't enter. This startled the man as he pulled his eyes off of the short man walking away.

"Yes?" (Y/n) turned his body towards Mike as he responded.

"Are you going to come in?" Starting at (Y/n) waiting for him to walk in.

"R-Right. Sorry." (Y/n) jumped a bit and walked forwards closing the door behind him.

"It's fine." Mike said as he received the notes from (Y/n)'s hands. As Mike sat in his desk reviewing the notes, (Y/n)'s mind returned to the short man he saw earlier.

Who is he? Why haven't I seen him before? (Y/N) frowned in thoughts, he held his chin as he sat on a chair.

I've been here for a while so I should have at least seen him once. So why haven't I seen him before? And... Why did he look so sad? (Y/n) grunted as his mind started hurting from overthinking. With more groans, (Y/n) ruffled his hair in frustration. This caused Mike to sigh as he looked up from the notes and towards his friend.

"Is there something on your mind, (Y/n)?" Mike said as he placed down the notes and stared at his friend.

"I was just wondering who it was you were talking to earlier and why hadn't I seen them before?" (Y/n) lifted his eyes to meet Mike's, "I usually like to meet everyone here and at least know a little about them. And yet, somehow, I never saw him."

"I am not surprised, he hardly comes out of his office and whenever he comes out you two are usually in different parts of the building." Mike then crossed his arms and leaned back on his chair. "Why do you ask?"

"Well.. Something about him caught my attention." (Y/n) said, holding his chin, staring at the ground, as he examined his thoughts. "Something about him makes me want to be friends with him. He looks like he needs one."

This response caused Mike to chuckle into his fist making (Y/n) turn towards him looking puzzled.

"I'm guessing this is going to be another 'I'm going to be friends with him because he's sad and everyone needs a friend' mission of yours." Mike said with a smile as he remembered the many times his kind hearted friend had done this in the past.

"You know me well." (Y/n) quickly returned the gesture.

"Well, if that's the case then you should at least know the name of man you're going to be dealing with him." Mike closed his eyes and grin at the ideas of (Y/n) pestering Levi,

"His name is..."

"Levi Ackerman."
