IF THERE WAS A CONCEPT OF TIME WHEN YOU DIE— maybe Theo would come to the recognition that he had spent a good three hours talking to the gorgeous (but shy) blonde boy that he would come to know as Alex Mercer. Damn, was it bad to say that he was hot again? Because Theo knew for a fact that he didn't know how beautiful he was. Great, now he was quoting a song by One Direction. What next? It was like he—

—the teenage ghost stepped in his tracks as he paused to make out at the sunset that was in his view. Walking down the boulevard strip, his pale green eyes were mesmerized by the way the sun looked like a chocolate coin dipped in orange colour. The clouds were like cotton candy painting the sun with its fluffy colours of pink and purple as they danced around the sun like it was their leader. The whole sky looked like a painting come to life from his sister's art studio.

The sunset is a painting, but darling you're a masterpiece meant to put on display. If I could tell the stars to form a new constellation to show my love for you each day. But you're with him and I am here. And every night I see the sun melt with my love for you.

He broke his gaze from the sunset, to see his leather brown notebook and gold pen floating in the air. His handwriting flowing through the very pen that he had been searching for on the night he died, writing the words that poured from his heart. Theo couldn't help but long to touch that pen that was out in front of him. But every ounce of his pain pulled him back, along with the tears that longed to stream down his face.

Theo hadn't bothered to remind himself of the other power that lied in store for him in the afterlife. Amidst the joys of flipping off large buildings and teleporting to random places, the joy of doing that and scaring old people could never compare to the hole in his heart as his notebook full of lyrics lied floating in front of his face, with the missing gold pen —now found— writing the lyrics that poured from his heart.

The first time this had happened was when Theo had his first trip back to memory lane. The thought of visiting his family and friends, seeing their faces, longing for an embrace that he knew was too good to be true. And his pale green eyes watered with the very glass tears that he currently held back as his feelings were recorded as words, as lyrics for a song that would never be released to the world.

He hadn't been truthful to Alex when the blonde-haired ghost decided to bring up his past. He chose to listen to Alex's struggles rather than unpack the heavy baggage that had been his to hold ever since he passed away. The last thing he wanted was to push away a new friend (who just happened to be a ghost too) by telling him everything that happened in his life, including that night.
