Blade sits beside a broken tree and spots a river nearby. He stands up and drops the pieces of Irene's staff in it."You gave it to me, why?" he mumbles.
Irene appears behind him and places one hand on his shoulder. He turns his head to look at her.
'Because I knew you would guard it as the guardian of my staff.' Irene says.
"But still. Why me? I'm a cursed and out of control werewolf." he replies.
'You hold a piece of someone else's soul inside you. Another person has a piece of my soul." Irene explains.
Blade rakes his mind for a minute before he realizes who she's talking about. "Alina." he says. "How does my sister have a piece of your soul while I don't?"
'Because Aphmau is one of the three broken souls of me." Irene smiles and ignores the last part of his question.
"She is?" Blade asks.
'Yes. Tread lightly, my guardian.' Irene tells him then fades away, leaving Blade alone.
He reaches his hand into the river and pulls out the snapped pieces of Irene's staff.
(Flashback - Blade's POV)
"Is it possible to even see someone who's dead?" I asked aloud.
"Who are you seeing?" Travis raised an eyebrow at me.
"It's just a theory, that's all." I replied.
"Kiddo, people die all the time and their loved ones continue to live their lives as best as they can. So get that image out of your head, Blade." Rowan told me.
"Rowan's right, Blade. Though what I'm confused about is why are you even asking?" Toby said.
"He says it's a theory." Travis answered for me.
"That's a lie." Rowan said then sighed. "I helped raise your grandfather."
I brought my head down. "I've been seeing someone in my dreams or visions, whatever you want to call them." I admitted.
(Flashback ends—Nobody's POV)
"They wouldn't believe me. Nobody would." Blade says.
He didn't tell them the person he was seeing in his visions was Irene herself. Though, she's dead which is why he feels nobody would believe him even if he did say it.
He hears the sound of wings flapping and glances up to the sky. He notices a blue bird landing in front of him and squawks.
"Please leave me alone." he mutters.
The bird shakes it's head in a 'no' formation. It isn't about to leave him alone so it flaps right onto his shoulder.
"Okay...now I have a bird on my shoulder." Blade says.
"Blade?" a voice then calls out.
Blade knows that voice for it's one he's heard his whole life. "Uncle Travis, over here!" he responds.
