---CHAPTER X: BLOOD (Part 3)---

((Third Person PoV!))

Meanwhile, in the saferoom...

"How is he?" China asked his companions as they gathered by the tables in their saferoom.

Japan turned to China and answered, "He's in the bath right now. Romano is looking after him..."

"Um... Maybe he has... amnesia?" Canada suggested, shifting a bit nervously.

England shook his head, "No, it looked like something a little different."

"It is similar to what I was like when we had just broken a clock." Japan concluded.

Prussia edged closer to them and asked, "Hm? What do you mean?"

"When we break a clock, he gets a lot of strange memories and they get all mixed up." France explained.

Japan gave an approving nod. "That's right. Italy also got so many memories that they pushed him to the limit, both physically and mentally.

He got saturated with them. If any more memories pour in, he will only reject them."

"Reject? Reject what?" China asked, tilting his head.

America spoke up, "The memories themselves. That's how it usually is. But Italy still tried somehow and...the line probably turned into dots."

Germany's forehead creased. "You mean his memories are all scattered about? So, if he tries thinking about them, they will return in time?"

"Yes. The proof of that is that he immediately... if tentatively...called my name." Japan stated slowly.

Spain raised an eyebrow. "Tentatively? What do you mean by that?"

Japan looked away and shifted nervously. "Well... er..."

"Sorry to keep you waiting." Romano apologised as he stepped out of bathroom with his younger brother.

America shook his head. "Uh, no, that was pretty quick. Are you feeling a little better now, Italy?"

Italy was a bit dazed for a while, but snapped out of it and answered. "......Yes, sir. I am sorry about all that. My head feels a lot better and I am fine now."

Prussia gave a confused look upon hearing the Northern Italian. "..'Sir'? Er, Italy? You do know who I am...don't you?"

Italy turned to the albino and nodded. "I do. He is Mr. Japan. You are Mr. Prussia. And he is..." Italy paused as his eyes met with Germany.

The blonde German tilted his head.

"Hol--" Italy blurted out, but seeming caught himself somehow and stopped.

Germany couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Hm?"

Italy suddenly scratched his head and spoke nervously. "Oh, er... Mr... Germany."

Japan stepped closer to his ally, "Italy, I'm sorry if this is a bit out of context right now, but we need to ask you...where did you lock up (Name)-chan before you fought the monster?"

Italy gave a puzzled look. "H-Huh? I apologise, Mr. Japan...but I am pretty sure that I have not been with the girl. I remember her being with us with the mansion...but it seems that I have not seen her after we went to the basement."

"You mean...after locking us up...you went straight upstairs and never bumped into the her? Then...." England trailed off.

Canada's eyes widened as began to worry. "This is bad... What if--What if she--"

Prussia vigorously shook his head. "Nonsense! She couldn't have... She--She probably knows how to avoid the monster. Maybe she...maybe she... hid somewhere safe. Maybe she's waiting for us to find her so that she can't get back here without being harmed by the Thing..?"

"Da. That could probably be it...hopefully." Russia said.

Italy looked down. "I-I am really sorry. I tried very hard to remember if I somehow have forgotten about the girl...but I am positive that I have not been with her."

"It's alright, dude. Don't stress about it anymore, leave that matter to us." America reassured him.

Germany placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Italy? What's wrong with you?"

Spain crossed his arms. "Huh? Doesn't it kinda feel... as if he's talking like when he was a kid? What happened?"

"Well, his memories are kind of jumbled and he's a little confused. He still needs some time, okay?" Romano defended.

Russia nodded. "Of course. Take your time."

"Y-yes, sir. I'm sorry." Italy apologised.

Japan turned to the Southern Italian. "And you stay with him, Romano."

Romano nodded, but he nervously spoke up, rubbing his elbow. "Uh, w-wait! I've been thinking all this time...and I think maybe I should tell you, after all..."

England waved his arms in front of him to stop the older Italian. "Er, wait, wait. I appreciate the sentiment, but we really shouldn't have told you to talk without considering Italy's feelings."

"It's still all right. You just take care of your brother. If there's really no other way, then we'll ask you again." France said, giving a warm smile.

"That's right. There are many other things we have to solve. Maybe he will remember something while we're having a meeting. We can wait." Canada said softly.

Romano nodded. "I see... All right." He then turned to his younger brother,  "Veneziano, go to sleep! You're tired. Come here."

"B-but..." Italy tried to protest.

"It's all right. If there's no other way, we'll ask you. Until then, be at ease." Germany said comfortingly.

Italy gave a sigh of relief. "Okay..."

The two Italians walked over to the beds and tried to get some shut eye.

---===---

"He's so... worn-out." France commented as his gaze followed Italy's figure.

"Yeah. He probably pushed himself too hard already. He must have kept telling himself that he could try harder and harder to protect us." Russia said, looking away.

England sat on one of the wooden chairs and furrowed his eyebrows. "Well, now that we're sure of Italy's safety...we have another pressing matter at hand."

"Yeah. Where could the dudette have gone to..?" America wondered.

Spain looked at the others. "Oh, right. You guys haven't explained to me why a chica was in this mansion."

"Well, from what she told us, she was on her way to her aunt's house with her parents by car. The frau fell asleep on the way, and when she woke up..she was outside of this mansion. Thinking that this was probably their destination..she went inside--but got locked in like the rest of us." Prussia explained.

The Spaniard snapped his fingers. "Ah! I see. So that's why there was a car outside."

"Hold on...there is also something we haven't discussed yet.....didn't you guys mention something about the girl not being from this world?" Russia pointed out.

"Hai. She has told us that she has come from a world where we are just purely fictional characters of an anime." Japan stated.

China covered his mouth with his incredibly long sleeve. "What? But..that's..how is that possible??"

"It might be a bit confusing and hard to accept at first...but we swear, the frau is telling the truth. She's actually a fan of ours! She knows a whole lot about us! And about this game, too!" Prussia told them.

Germany stepped closer to them. "But if...she did know all this...how come she never said anything. Why didn't she tell us?"

"U-Uhm...I don't know about you guys...but it's probably because if she told us that straight out...we might not have had believed her so easily." Canada pointed out with a soft voice.

France tucked a lock of his hair behind his ear and spoke, "Oui... That might be the case. Besides...doesn't that mean that...she's like, well, in a way...like Italy?"

Japan nodded. "That is true. She did explain that she was afraid of making any decisions that were out of place, since she didn't know how the consequences would damage us or anything. It's just like how I felt whenever we broke a clock. Getting information, but unsure of how to use it without putting anyone in danger."

"I see... You guys have mentioned this being a game of some sort...care to explain that?" Russia inquired.

Japan and Prussia looked at each other and shrugged. "Ja...about that, we haven't talked with (Name) about it in detail. But she did state that this is some kind of RPG game that she has played before..." Prussia answered.

Canada raised an eyebrow and spoke in a soft voice, "W-Wait....Does that mean she know's how this game ends--"

Suddenly, they heard loud knocks from their door.

"D-Dudes...don't tell me the monster found us!!" America started to panic.

Japan instinctively clutched his katana and slowly pulled it out of its sheath. "I didn't think it'd actually be smart enough to be able to find and open the iron door."

"Well then everyone, let us all be cautious." Germany warned. He continued, "Bruder, kindly open the door for us."

Prussia turned to him with wide eyes and spoke frantically, "Wh-What? Why do I have to do that?!"

"Don't worry, if it's the monster, we'll attack it before it could even touch you." England reassured.

The red-eyed albino gulped and stepped slowly towards the door. It was still being knocked on. Prussia reached out for the knob and opened the door slowly, peeking outside.

"AAHH!!" he shouted.

"P-Prussia! Is it the monster?! Why aren't you getting out of the way, aru??!" China called out to him loudly.

Japan walked over behind Prussia and looked over his shoulders. "Hold on...it's..."

"FRAU!!!! You're alright!! Mein gott! Thank goodness!" Prussia exclaimed as he pulled a (hair colour) girl inside the safe room and closed the door.

England walked over to them. "(Name), love. You're safe!" he gave a sigh of relief.

"Dudeeetttteee!" America rushed over to the girl and glomped her.

She giggled and tried freeing herself from the energetic American's embrace. "A-America, I can't breathe. Hahaha."

"Oh! Sorry! We were just really worried about you." he said as he let go of the girl.

She smiled. "T-Thanks."

The slim Japanese man went beside (Name) and faced her. "We're so glad that you're finally here, safe and sound at that. Where have you been..?"

She suddenly looked down and shifted nervously. "O-Oh...I'm sorry for worrying you guys...about that...I, well...You see..." her eyes searched for someone. Her gaze suddenly fell upon the Northern Italian lying on on one of the beds beside his brother.

"......I...sort of knew that Italy was going to lock you guys in...so I stayed behind and hid in a room so that after Italy left the basement, I'd be able to...get you guys out of the cell..." she explained.

Japan cupped his chin. "I see...we sort of thought that was the case before...but how come you didn't come back after that?"

"W-Well....while I was looking for a room to hide in...I bumped into a monster." she told them.

France gasped. "Mon dieu! What did you do then?"

"...I ran as fast as I can to get away from the monster and I...uhm, hid in one of the closets and sort of..well somehow...fell asleep in there...I'm sorry." she chuckled nervously.

Canada walked up to her and patted her shoulder. "It's okay, (Name)... I guess that's probably because you were fatigued, naturally you'd need some rest. We're just glad you're safe."

"Thanks..." she smiled.

Spain headed over to where the girl was. "Hola, chica! So you're the one they were all fussing about~"

".......Spain..." she blurted out. Realising this, she covered her mouth on reflex.

With wide eyes, England spoke, "So she does know..." turning to (Name), he continued. "Don't worry, love. Japan and Prussia have informed us about what you know already. Well, some of it, at least."

"You guys...believe me?" she asked.

America placed an arm over the girl's shoulder and faced her. "Of course, dudette! It was kinda hard to believe at first and it did sort of sound impossible to happen--but hey, it's nothing new anymore ever since we got stuck here in this mansion!"

"...Thanks, hero." she gave a small smile at the American.

At that, America let go of her and gave his signature laugh. "HAHAHA! No problem!"

"Ugh, I swear, love, if you keep calling him like that, it'll get to his head." England groaned.

Prussia turned to the girl. "Frau, would you like to rest some more over there? The West-made beds are really comfy. You don't need to stress out that much."

She shook her head. "Thank you, but it's fine. I did say that I slept earlier. I want to help out or at least talk about what to do next..."

~~~Reader's PoV~~~
"Alright then, why don't we all sit down and think about what would be the best course of action." Japan said, taking a seat beside me.
"Yeah. Um, I've been wondering... Germany, what was that thing that you gave to Italy?" America asked the blonde German.
"You mean right before he got me into that cell? It's a piece of metal that I found in the cave. Incidentally, Italy dropped it when he was beaten up and now I have it with me again." Germany answered, taking out the metal piece from his pocket and showing it to the rest.
As they mentioned the metal piece, I couldn't help but cringe. That's the one. That's the one that Luciano's making me get for him. How am I supposed to take it? ...Maybe I should make them believe that it's just some piece of junk? That could work---
"Judging by the way he acted, it must be something necessary to escape. Even though it looks like an ordinary metal piece..." Canada suggested.
Shoot. I shrugged and spoke, "Hmm...maybe it is just an ordinary metal piece?"
"Or maybe it's some sort of key?" Spain thought out loud.
France tilted his head and pointed at the metal piece.  "Key? But keys aren't usually shaped like this."
Spain nodded. "Yeah, that's the point! In other words, the keyhole is also hidden." he explained.
"But there was no keyhole where that metal piece could fit, so I think--" I tried to reason to them.
"--We must have missed it." China cut me off.
China...you...dangit! Always cutting me off, ugh!
While I was still sulking about being cut off by China, the Chinese man turned to England and continued, "Weren't there any places that made you feel uneasy?"
"Yes... and no... I mean, there were so many places that made me uneasy that I've forgotten about some of them." England told them.
"In that case, we'll have to search the mansion once again." Prussia concluded.
Japan nodded. "Understood. Let's split up into two groups; one to stand by, and the other to search around."
"I'm fine with either one, but... Italy must be hungry, so... maybe I should cook something for him?" England suggested with a smile.
We all jumped at the horrible thought.
"England!!! Let's search together!!! By all means!!!" Japan exclaimed, grabbing the Brit's arm.
He gave a confused look, "What? But the food--"
"I'll stay! France, you can stay, too!!" China frantically said, walking over to France's side.
France flipped his hair nervously. "Oh!! Of course!!! So, the kitchen is full now!You can search around with the others!"
"I'll stay, too. I'm not feeling very well..." Prussia told them, looking down and clutching his chest.
"Does anyone else have a preference? Then, Russia, Canada, Japan, and England will do the search with me. The others will stand by."
I stepped forward and spoke, "Wait...I want to go search with you guys, too."
"Huh? Are you sure about that, love?" England asked.
I nodded. "Yeah..."
"All right. Let's do a thorough investigation." Canada told us while we were moving out of the saferoom.
I gripped the straps of my backpack tightly and gave a heavy sigh. Will I be able to do this? Will I really be able to betray these guys who were worried sick about me?
They'll probably hate me.
They'll probably get mad.
But...this is for my parents. It's not like I can just let Luciano or the other 2Ps hurt them.
Those Second Players will stay true to their word, right?
I mean...when I met them, they weren't that bad...
...Okay...maybe they are "bad"...
But I think they know their limits.
I mean, if they didn't they would've probably killed me by now. But instead...they promised not to harm me in any way, well, given that I follow what they say...
Staying true to their word...that means...they can hold their principles, right?
That means...it's...not too late for them to change, right?
Right?
Seriously...they can...change if they were talked to properly...
I mean...look at Ollie, for example.
Then it hit me.
"Ollie..." I gasped.
Japan turned around to face me, "Hmm? Did you say something just now, (Name)-chan?"
I shook my head and spoke, "N-No, it's nothing..." After that, the Japanese man proceeded walking.
Oliver Kirkland...my...friend...
That's right...Ollie's the reason why I got out of the room...he...helped me.
He may be a Second Player like Luciano and the others...but he chose to help me, instead.
Because...they may be Second Players...but they have hearts, too.
The question there is...
...is it too late to change all of them?
((ALLEN'S PoV! Yeah, that's right, dollface.))
As the rest of us were heading back to our base on the fifth floor, I kept thrashing everything I came across upon.
"Fucking First Player!! I knew I should've just killed him when he was on his way upstairs--but nooo! We just had to plan it out like, what the hell?! Aren't those damned plans made so that we won't screw shit up?!" I yelled, swinging my bat across the halls and breaking vases.
Francois gave me an annoyed glance. "We get you, but don't cause too much noise. What if they hear us?"
"Mhhm, they probably won't though. Those guys are somewhere on the second floor that we can't get access to." Mattheiu stated.
SMASH!
I destroyed some more  vases as we walked down the corridor.
"What the hell is that bastard's problem?" I heard Nikolai say, but I was too busy smashing vases to get pissed off by him calling me a bastard.
"He's throwing a fit because that so-called weakling of the First Players killed his little pet alien. He's being such a wuss about it." Mattheiu answered. I turned around when I heard what he sad and dashed over to him.
"For the last time, he's not my fucking pet. He's my buddy. Hell, he could probably be a nicer brother than you're being right now you asshole." I shouted at his face, grabbing him by the collar of his flannel shirt.
Zao walked towards our group. "Aiyah. What kind of bull is that? You actually cared about it? What's so good about that creature?"
"The fact that he was better than you shitstains, that's what." I answered angrily.
Francois jabbed the Chinese man's sides with his elbow. "Quit it. He's just pissed off, don't add more fuel to that boy's state." Zao just shrugged, "Whatever."
"Gil, Andres...have you guys seen Luci anywhere?" Flavio asked.
The depressed Prussian and the stoic Spaniard just shook their heads. "We haven't seen him. I haven't seen my bruder, either." Gil answered. Andres nodded and spoke monotonously. "Si. The three are probably together somewhere."
I was supposed to smash some more stuff when I heard someone scream loudly.
"AAHHHH!! STOP!! NO!!!"
We all turned to look at each other.
"It sounded like it came from our base, aru." Zao told us.
Matt placed a hand on my shoulder. "Al...that voice...didn't it sound like...."
My eyes widened as I realised who screamed.
".....Oliver...." I blurted out. At that, I began running down the hall over to the last door on the right.
Oliver may be sort of gay looking and usually pisses me off with his whole optimism and poisonous cupcakes...but he's one of the strongest guys I know. I mean, he's the guy who practically raised me...
He'll probably be okay, right?
I spoke to myself as I was a few steps away from the door. "Of course he will, he--"
What I saw made me drop my bat to the floor.
Oliver was panting heavily, clutching his arms--which was gushing out blood..and lots of it.
....And Lutz was holding back Oliver...while Kuro held a katana...dripping with fresh blood. It was all true. They...they're trying to...
"YOU BASTARDS!!! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING??!" I yelled, all the anger turning into deep rage.
I picked up my bat and dashed over to Kuro; before he could react, I hit his hand with my bat, causing him to drop the sword.
"....A...Allen...you're....here....." Oliver said weakly, giving me a pained smile. At that, the injured Brit started to collapse, but was I managed to swiftly catch him before he could fall on the floor.
I held him gently and panicked when I saw him starting to close his eyes, he's losing so much blood..he could... "Oliver! W-Wait! Don't sleep!" I told him frantically.
At that point, Matt and the others went inside the room and saw the situation at hand.
I saw Francois stare blankly at Oliver first, then suddenly walked up to Lutz and Kuro and punched them both..really hard. I gotta hand it to him, he may be lazy, but when shit gets real, he fights without holding anything back.
"Shit. Al, quick use these to bandage him up." Matt told me as he gave me some torn up pieces of the table cloth in the room. When we finished wrapping up Oliver's arms to stop the bleeding, I checked on him again. He was still breathing. Thank God. I took one of the cushions of the chairs to have him use as a pillow. For now, he's safe...I'll ask questions from him later...
As for those two...
"Lutz! Kuro! Why the hell did you do that for?" Flavio asked them angrily.
Lutz rubbed his bruised cheek, which got hit by Francois and spoke, "...It was Luciano's orders."
"Wh-What...?" The blonde haired Italian gasped.
Nikolai stepped closer to us. "I have noticed...that the girl is not here. The Brit probably let her escape, da?"
"That's right. What he had done had drastically ruined our plans. He knew this and yet he still did it. That's why he needs to die." Kuro said.
Matt gave a glance at the unconscious strawberry blonde haired man. "He...really did that...?"
Lutz spoke, "Correct. It seems that he was too soft to not say no to the girl. A person like that is useless in our plans."
"You bitches! That's still no reason to try and kill him!" I shouted angrily.
Kuro turned to me. "Why are you defending that traitor? He could be the reason why your dear..'buddy' got killed! Have you ever thought of that? You have enough reason to be furious at him."
I clenched my fists. "You know what? I don't fucking care anymore about that. Oliver's...family. That man was the one who took care of me from the start...and even though what I'm saying sounds gay, I care about that cupcake-loving dork."
"....You do...?" I heard a voice behind me.
When I turned around, I saw Oliver trying to get up and coughing loudly. I rushed over to his side. "Idiot, don't push yourself too hard. Just stay still there."
"I honestly don't care about you and your 'family', so we're still going to do what we were ordered to do." Kuro told us.
Matt crunched his knuckles, "I don't think so, you asshats." Francois also went beside Matt and was about to back him up.
"Heh. Very well. We've been aching to get some blood on our hands." Lutz chuckled darkly.
The others didn't know whether to intervene or not, so just stayed put.
Flavio, though, decided to step in. "Hold on! We're not supposed to killing each other here!"
"Get out of our way." Lutz said as he was about to throw a punch at the blonde Italian, his hands got cut by a knife that flew past his knuckle.
"Tenerlo. I never said anything about laying a hand on my fratello. And I told you two to teach the Brit a lesson. I didn't tell you to kill him, did I?"
Our heads turned to face the auburn haired Italian who leaned on the doorway, he looked pissed off at his henchmen.
Flavio went over to his brother. "....L-Luci...you really did order them to hurt Oliver?"
"Si." he said simply.
I was about to get up and punch his guts when he spoke up once more.
"But we don't need to do that anymore." Luciano said.
"And why not?" Kuro asked, crossing his arms.
Luciano stepped inside the room and closed the door behind him.
"Because we're going to meet up with our dear 'First Players' really soon."
