Third Person's POV

Max was sitting, waiting patiently for his date with Emma. This was past the time that they were supposed to meet, so he was surprised that she was late.

He had tried calling her and everything before he placed his elbow on the pie, knocking over the glass and ruining his perfect display. Maybe this wasn't supposed to work out after all.

Cassie's POV

I had found a little place to sit so that I could try and calm myself down.

As soon as I sat down on the bench as the launch was getting underway, Leo and Hayley were on either side of me.

"Hi" Leo whispered. "Hey" I replied back, the tears starting to pool together in my eyes.

Leo then grabbed my hand and I stared at it for a second, wondering what did it mean. Did it mean he was finally ready to be with me?

I didn't know about that, but I did know that I liked the way I felt when I laid my head on his shoulder. Hand and hand.

Alex's POV

The launch was getting closer by the second. I couldn't believe that this was the first one I was watching without mom, Hayley, dad, or Cass.

"Hey, you okay?" Brooke asked as she sat next to me.

"Yeah, it's just a little strange, is all." I answered.

"Three, two, one!" The rest of the eagles cheered as the rocket took off.

Brooke placed her hand on mine and for a second I felt better.

Third Person's POV

Max was watching the take-off when Emma walked out, in a beautiful dress and a pair of sunglasses.

"Hey there" She said as she walked out on the terrace. "What?" She asked puzzled.

"You missed the whole thing."He replied solemnly quitting to see in the bright sun.

"Max, I'm so sorry. The showers were occupied and then the hairdryer stopped working.... I can't believe you did all this." She marveled at the small picnic table that he had set up for the two of them.

"The pie looked really nice.. before I smashed it." He said.

"I feel terrible, Max. Was it a cool launch?"

"Yeah." He quipped. "Great." Emma replied with her head down. The tension could be cut with a knife.

"You have beautiful eyes" He sputtered out. "What?" Emma asked confused.

"Not now. In general, I mean. Now too, of course, but you can't see them.... Never mind" he rambled.

"So is it over?" I asked, hoping that maybe my nightmare was finally ending.
