My Brothers In Blue

Chapter 8

Hollie's POV: 

As one o'clock slowly rolls around, I get nothing but a constant flow of teasing and mockery from the boys. Brooke, Chappo, Whippet, Deano and Kerrbox were all sat in the tower on their lunch break as I sat at the desk, watching over the water and waiting for Josh to knock at the tower door. 

"I think I should be the one to have a talk with him" Kerrbox states, standing up from his chair and crossing his arms. 

"Nah, it should be me!" Deano argues, throwing his rubbish in the bin. 

"Nobody is going to be having a talk with him! I just met the guy and I don't need you to scare him off already" I say, smiling and shaking my head. I may have only met them a few weeks ago, but it felt really nice to know that everyone wanted to look out for me. 

Just before either one of them can reply, a knock comes from the back door. Chappo leaps out of his seat and rushes to the door, opening it before I can even walk down the steps. 

"Hi, I'm Josh. I'm meant to be meeting Hollie here?" I hear Josh's voice from outside. 

"Hey!" I say, walking round to the medical bay and waving at Josh. He gave a small wave back and before dropping his arm and turning to look at Chappo, looking slightly intimidated. 

"I've got to collect my stuff from the lockers, I'll be two minutes" I jog out of the towers and towards the changing rooms. 

Meanwhile in the tower - No one's POV: 

"So, what are your intentions with Hollie?" Kerrbox questioned Josh, narrowing his eyes slightly. 

"Well, I was just going to take her for a lunch date and get to know her a bit better." Josh answered, having gained a bit more confidence than when he had first arrived. 

"Well how did you two meet?" Brooke asked, joining in with the interrogation. Even though she knew the answer, she wanted to hear Josh's side to the story. 

"Well, its kind of a long story..." 

"We've got time." Whippet interrupts, jumping down from the desk. 

"My roommate and her roommate are dating and she was kicked out of her room, because they were 'busy'. I saw that she was sleeping in the student lounge and I offered her the spare bunk in my room, since my roommate wasn't using it. But she refused so I have her a blanket instead, with my phone number tucked inside." Josh explained. From the lack of reaction he got, he guessed Hollie had already told them this, and they probably just wanted to hear it from him. 

"Smooth" Chappo murmured, only to be elbowed in the ribs by Brooke. 

"Do you see a future with her?" Deano asked. 

"I haven't even taken her on one date yet!" Josh exclaimed. 

"So your just going to waste her time for a couple of months?" Kerrbox said, raising his eyebrows. 

"N-no that's not what I meant!" 

"So what did you mean?" 

Before Josh could answer, Hollie jogged through the door. She had heard some of the conversation from outside. 

"Ready to go, Josh?" She asked, grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the tower to the safety of the promenade. 

Back in the tower, some of the guys high-fived each other, smiling. 

"Don't you think we were a bit too harsh on him?" Brooke questioned, sitting in Hollie's chair and picking up the binoculars. 

"Nah, this is Hollie's first Australian boyfriend. We just needed to make sure he was worthy." Whippet replied, smirking.
