Annabeth pov:
Some people screamed as the Hellhound popped out of thin air, taking the opportunity to pin the demigod underneath it while whoever it was got distracted by the bright flash. The dagger was slapped out of their hand, and the hellhound peered over their head, snarling and baring its teeth. With a yell, the fighter kicked upward, sending the hellhound back a few feet as they scrambled to get their blade. Reaching it, the hellhound saw the opportunity to pounce as their back was turned. With incredible speed, the demigod slashed up, slitting the hellhounds throat from left to right.
Everyone was silent for a few seconds, as the demigod looked up, finally taking in their surroundings.
"Wha-" they started, moving into a defensive position. Something about this camper seemed very familiar to Annabeth, though she couldn't quite place it.
Chiron trotted up to the now very confused fighter.
"Chiron?" they asked, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "What's going on?"
Chiron quietly explained everything to the future camper, whose eyes got comically wide towards the end.
"...so if you could introduce yourself, that would be great." Chiron finished with a fatherly smile.
Annabeth knew that smile, and she knew that Chiron already probably knew who this future camper was.
"Bet. Alrighty, young people!" The demigod started with a grin. "I am the amazing, the one and only, the super awesome" he did a drumroll on his pants with his hand and his dagger, "TRAVIS STOLL!" He did a small dance, spinning and doing a little twerk before stopping.
Annabeth felt so stupid. How could she not see it? They looked exactly the same. The same curly hair, the same impish grin, the same angular jawline, and as she looked at the Travis from her time, his eyes wide, she felt like hitting herself. It was so obvious who it was now.
Somewhere in the back of her brain, she thought back to how good of a fighter he was. Hopefully she would be close to that good in the future. Another part of her brain noticed how much of a glow up he had. His face was more defined, his body more muscular, and his acne had finally gone away.
"Wait," started past Travis. "You're me? This is so fucking weird."
"Travis!" Katie admonished, glaring at him. He just shrugged, and she muttered something about him being an irresponsible idiot. He played it off with a smile, but Annabeth could tell that the comment hurt.
"Yep." stated future Travis, pushing past the little tratie moment. "I am worried though. I was in the middle of a war, and now I'm in a completely different time. We didn't have a lot of fighters either, and Connor will start to get worried."
Annabeth breathing stilled. Did he just say war?
"I'm sorry, war?" asked Percy, looking very concerned.
Annabeth pushed down the small butterflies in her stomach when she heard his voice, resisting the urge to go and comfort him and setting her mind back on track.
"Yeah." said Travis. "You're one of the main leaders in it, Perce."
Annabeths blood ran cold. She didn't want Percy getting hurt, and she didn't know if she would be there to fight with him. She knew there would be a war coming in the future, but the fact that she was talking to a person fighting in it felt like a slap to the face.
"So, you're fighting Kronos?" she asked, already knowing the answer. Who else would they be fighting?
"Ummm, no." Travis stated, looking down. "We already fought him. This is a different war."
Lots of shouting filled the pavilion, and just as everyone began to quiet down, another bright flash filled the hall, spitting out an almost identical looking boy, punching a Dracaena in the face.
