I like dogs more than cats; I like cupcakes more than cakes; I like candy better than chocolate. These frequent 'great' debate topics that many have difficulties choosing between, don't quite apply to me. I'm good at making choices, even if they're bad, I'll choose at least one thing from the other, and pray for the best. So I'll never understand-"I can't choose Amara!" My best friend shouted at me.
"Why? You can't date both of them." I took a bite out of my cheese and ham sandwich while admiring the clouds above as we decided to eat lunch outside. Hypnotized by the infinite pastel blue sky, I was able to mute her storm of words that erupted out of her mouth. Envious of the white clouds that floated in freedom, I couldn't help but converse with the lively sun in my head thinking, 'Why don't you just melt me and turn me into condensed water vapor too.'
Clara, my best friend since middle school just got a love confession from two of the most 'boyfriend material' guys in my grade.
Her beauty always shined through and she always knew how to talk to other people without embarrassing herself. She was amazing at impressing everyone without even trying. Long story short, she's the 'it' girl. You know what that means-
"They're too similar, I can't tell who would be better for me." She sighed. Can't relate to that.
It's true, they're both stupid identical jocks, except ones got blonde hair and ones got brown."Well, didn't you talk to both of them? There should be a reason why they're into you." I even hesitated to say so.
Clara's blonde curly hair shimmered in the sun, and she respectively had an amazing body. She's got frekin abs, and her waist is snatched. Her eyes are super crystal blue and she has the longest lashes I've ever encountered. So the boys could just be predators.
"Hey gargoyles" Alex came up behind us and threw his bag over my head, which landed on the grass inches away from my feet.
"Wow, and you brought your stupidity with you today too." I rolled my eyes. Alex is my ex-boyfriend of only one day, in kindergarten. After our little heartbreaks, we just decided to be friends.
"Yup, and also dating problems?" He nudged me on the shoulder to make room.
"I knew it, I'm always the relationship therapist huh." And I'm single too.
"I don't know what Alice wants from me." He lied down on the grass.
"Who's Alice now?" I looked over to Clara, who to my surprise was absent. Ah, she went over to the blonde jock. I guess she finally decided on her new boyfriend.
I turned to Alex, who had a wide grin on his face, pleading for me to listen.
"My new girlfriend." He took a sip of my strawberry smoothie. I swear he has a new girlfriend every single week. Yes, my two attractive friends are basically players. Except for me.
"I'm listening." I continued to eat around the crust of my sandwich, preparing myself for the uproarious storm forming around his vocal chords and mouth. Round two, here we go.
"Before we started dating, she promised me she wouldn't expect anything from me if I just gave her a chance, and now she's controlling everything I do. She even took my phone one time." He started ranting.
"Well did you text other girls?"
"Yeah, but that's besides the-" I smacked his lips.
"Alex, that's just disrespectful, have I not taught you anything?" I sighed.
"Yeah mom, whatever. I'll meet you after school, she's gonna get jealous when she sees me with you." He slowly walked to Alice, who gave me the deadliest glare. I think our school really is like every high school movie ever.

I walked out of school with my A graded papers, excited to prove to my parents of my capability. Shame on you for doubting your child, what a bunch of Karens. I strutted along the parking lot, looking for Alex's car as we usually drove to a nearby diner for dinner. My parents always came home late, and I never learned how to cook.
As I was finally busy waving at Alex and Clara, I hit a rock hard pole and fell, releasing all of my papers to the ground. Should have put them in my bag.
I looked up to say sorry instinctively to an object.
Only that it was not a pole, but the most cold hearted boy in my school, Ryder Feyrer. And looking at him this close, maybe the most handsome too.
He ran his hands through his dark black hair in frustration.
"Impressive." He stared me down, with his deep ashy grey eyes.
"Did I hit you too hard?" I started picking up the scattered papers. He picked one up and examined it.
"I guess grades don't determine common sense." He stated without emotion. I snatched my paper out of his hands.
"Thanks." I sarcastically managed to spit out. A jerk of course.
"Next time, you should really move when someone walks in your direction." He slightly tapped the part of my head that hit his frekin metal chest.
"You know, to avoid further concussions and all that." He smirked.Don't say anything, just move along Amara, just-
"Or you could just dodge them yourself? You know, to avoid injuring other people- and all that." I suggested unwillingly. Damn my blabbering mouth.
"You're funny for a nerd." He brushed past my shoulders intentionally, causing me to lose balance.
After I snapped out of the rant that I whispered out, I ran towards my friends while shoving the papers into my bag. I hopped into Alex's Porsche and let out the longest sigh.
"What did that jerk say? I swear-" Alex grabbed onto his steering wheel with anger. His soft blue eyes intensified, and pierced me with concern.
"Nothing, just what a usual jerk would say to a smart and amazing person." I nodded to Alex as a sign of 'Please drive so I can refrain from embarrassing myself even more'.
"Nerd?" Clara suggested.
I gave her a yes look. She couldn't keep in her snort, which lightened up Alex's face too. She had this contagious laugh that could brighten up everything, but it was not pretty I can tell you that. Maybe like a shrieking teapot?
But one thing I learned from my first encounter, was that I definitely should have kept my stupid words from Ryder Feyrer.
