A million bee stings

Two years ago

The sky portrayed the depths of my feeling as the sun hid behind the clouds, coating the once blue atmosphere grey.

"Okay, bye." I waved at my parent's nonchalantly as they loaded the trunk with four large silver suitcases. I crossed my arms while leaning against the door, to show my unphased and annoyed state.

"We'll be back before you know it." My dad ran up to me and gave me a final light goodbye kiss on the forehead. Sure, you don't have to tell me twice.

Ever since my grandfather had passed, my dad inherited his successful investing company. Although I never got to meet him, apparently he was a respectable man who everyone wanted to meet at least once as a business partner.
However, his death took my parents away from me. I would have cried, and begged them to take me with them on the trip if I were ten. Yet years and years had passed of my busy parents taking business trips every three months, which made me immune to the grief of departure.

As soon as the red lights emitting from the back of the car became just a speck from the distance, I sprinted inside to the remote and repetitively pushed the volume button, increasing the sound of the television to drown out the eerie silence. Normally I would call Alex or Clara over, but they were both away for a Spanish language class trip. I shouldn't have chosen french. Merde.

I jabbed numerous silver and golden keys into each lock of an entry way, just to keep safe. Ain't nobody sneaking in today.

But little did I know, I was not alone that night.

Fluttering my eyes up to the plain white ceiling in shock, I could immediately feel the intense pounding sensation flowing through my head. It hurt like a million bee stings- as if a colony of these evil yellow fuzzes were buzzing in my brain. However, my cold sweat had cooled off and I could feel my body slowly returning to it's normal temperature again.

My eyes explored around the small square like room, and was able to spot a few medical beds and thin blue curtains surrounding each one of them.

"Where am I?" I whispered to myself as I slowly tried to get up. I looked over to the window, yet to my surprise, a tall 6'3, broad shouldered man admired the view outside. The sun glistened upon the side of his face, hiding his identity yet captivating my curiosity.

"So the damsel in distress finally wakes up." He stretched his neck by moving his head side to side. His voice was deep and smooth, yet playful and cocky...and familiar.

Ah crap, it's Feyrer.

I wrapped my head with my hands in agony, discovering a small bump across my forehead. I winced from the pain that the soft bruise had inflicted on me.

"You did this to me?" I glared at him, which he reacted in shock.

"What? No- you hit your head on the desk." He immediately defended himself. I wouldn't be surprised if that jerk hit an innocent person. He chucked an ice pack (aka. half melted ice in a ziplock bag) at me.

"Too cold!" I threw them in the air. They brutally hit my head afterwards, adding onto the excruciating pain.

"Yea, no shit. It's ice." He shook his head in disappointment. I'm about to beat this son of a trucker up.

"Okay, wait- why are you here?" I tried getting up.

"Because your stone of a heavy head couldn't keep straight and I was forced to take you to the nurse's office." He groaned in annoyance. He blocked the doors with his back and signaled me to sit down. I glared at him. What am I, a dog?
