After listening to Carla's request of 'Gone' by Rosé playing on repeat in the car, we finally made it to 'Jennifer's Diner'.

The owner, Sarah made the most amazing berry shakes and burgers in the Avenue. It was a family owned diner, and Jennifer was Sarah's grandmother, who sadly passed a few years ago.

"Hey kiddos, usual or something new today?" Sarah greeted us with the most welcoming smile.

"I'll just have the usual, cause nothing tops your burgers. No offense to your other dishes." I politely requested with excitement.

Alex and Carla both synchronously answered "Same," after.

"So thanks for ditching me at lunch guys." I marked sarcastically.

"Charlie needed my help with his homework." Carla excused, twirling her hair. She always did that when she felt guilty.

"Yeah I bet two blondes could solve the problem." Alex teased.

"But jokes on you, I got it right dumb ass." She threw a tissue at him.

"Well, I broke up with Alice." He suddenly stated as if it was nothing.

"And how'd it go?" Carla asked as she received the drinks that Sarah had brought over, and handed it out to us.

"She cried. And made a dramatic scene out of it." He took a sip of his banana split milkshake.

"I bet there's more to it, your ex's always top the other breakups each time." I included.

"In class. She did it in class and I was forced to stand outside for the whole lesson." He rubbed his temples.

"No way? How's that fair?" Carla asked in sarcastic disbelief.

Alex explained the whole situation in detail, and it went both sides. In conclusion, Alex is an immature jerk, and the girl is a drama queen. End of story.

"So you're on the search for another girlfriend?" I rolled my eyes, biting into my burger that magically appeared in front of me. Must have gotten too invested in his story.

"No. I think I'm going to look for someone for real this time." He smiled at me.

"Look at you all grown up." I acted as if I was wiping tears off my face.

"Then I guess he went through puberty sixteen times, cause he said it that much before." Carla shook her head.

Alex threw his fries at her, and I ignored the scene by enjoying my meal gratefully.

Alex had dropped me off home after Clara, and we looked for the spare key disguised as a rock near by my doorstep together. Under all that tough demeanor, he's a sweetheart. I don't understand why he can't just actually care for these girls?

"Found it!" He shouted out, making me chuckle.

"You know, your parents should replace the key with something more obvious, you could never find this without me." He handed it over after dusting it off.

"Well, you know what happened when it was under the mat." I reminded him.

"Ah yes, your crazy ex."

"Don't even." I rubbed my temples and I could feel my heart suddenly beat faster.

"Well go inside, I'll make sure nothing goes through the door except you." He posed as if he even learned self defense before. He probably couldn't even hurt a bug. Or be too scared to kill it.
