Kokichi's eyes widened. He didn't think he would be, that special to Shuichi?
"I.." Kokichi's coughing had turned into not being able to breathe. He gasped for air, holding his throat. At that moment, Shuichi threw himself into a hug, hoping for Kokichi to not breathe his last breath yet. He whispered the words.. "Please don't leave me."
Please don't leave me.
Kokichi looked up at Shuichi and half-giggled. "Saihara-chan, it's you!"
Shuichi stared at Kokichi, you could see how red his face was.
"You were so clueless!" Kokichi laughed. "I get it. I'll probably die any minute now. But I love you."
I love you
Kokichi coughed hard enough for a small blue flower to appear in his hands. "Heh. Yeah. Anytime now.."
"I-" Shuichi sat frozen. It had taken him THIS long to notice his feelings for Kokichi, but why now, when Kokichi was on the edge of death.
"I love you too."
Kokichi looked up as he heard the words. "W-what...?"
Shuichi cupped Kokichi's face in his palms. "I always have." Kokichi sat in shock.
"You-" he was cut off by Shuichi leaning in and kissing him. Kokichi didn't have any time to process what was going on. As the kiss deepened, Kokichi sunk into it. His mind went blank and he didn't know what else to do. After a while, Shuichi pulled away. There was a soft look on his face. He lifted one of Kokichi's hands into his own, "We'll get through it together, okay? I- I've seen the way you treat yourself." Kokichi's eyes opened wider at the words. "You have?"
He hadn't noticed it, but, he was able to breathe now. And properly.
"I.. can breathe now... I can breathe now!" Kokichi took a large, deep breath, making up for all of the ones he missed.
He looked up at Shuichi. "Thank you, Saihara-chan!"
The tone of his voice made Shuichi start going red, "Y-yeah!"
"Nee-heeheehee! Saihara-channnn!" Shuichi smirked and started laughing, before he gave Kokichi a peck on the lips.
The others stood there with their mouths wide open.
"Could you pick your jaw up off the floor?" Kokichi said, "Is it really THAT suprising??"
"Yes. Yes it is." Kaito said, face-palming for no apparent reason.
To Kokichi and Shuichi though.
