Secret garden

It's been two weeks since the party and Samantha has been waiting patiently to talk to Ezra and see what he had to say about this arrangement. During those two weeks Pam and Jeremy talked details with Sam about the wedding. As always, Sam didn't want to hear anything about any wedding,spending most of her time talking to Kathy or up in her room avoiding her parents so she could collect herself and her thoughts.On a Friday afternoon the Mansons were greeted by some unexpected guests.*knock knock* Pamela was in the kitchen when she heard  the knock and Jeremy in the living room looking at some papers from work. "Pamela dear can you get the door please?" Jeremy said showing Pamela the papers in his hands. "Of course dear, COMING!COMING!". Pamela wiped her hands with a cloth and walked to the front door. She opened the door and a smile appeared on her face beaming with happiness "John what a surprise! Please please come in what brings you to our home?" Mr.Harrington stepped in and Ezra as well came making Pamela happy for him and Sam to see eachother again.she guided them down the hall to the living room "oh Jeremy John is here, he stopped by for a surprise visit" Jeremy quickly gathered the mess of paper scattered on the lounge table and put them back in the drawer and brushed out the wrinkles off his pants.Soon after mr.Harrington entered the living room with Ezra and Pamela.
Jeremy: "John,Ezra my friends what brings your by?"
Mr.Harrington: "ah well I've come to talk with you all about the plans for the wedding and Ezra wanted to see Samantha.He hasn't stopped thinking about her since the party and brought a gift"
Ezra walked up to Pamela and Jeremy and showed them a box wrapped in beautiful gold pattern flower wrapping paper with a nice purple bow on top.Pamela clapped in excitement just looking at the gift. Making Ezra feel a bit shy showing it to everyone.
Pamela: "what a nice gesture Ezra, I'm sure she'll love whatever gift you bring her"
Ezra: "yes well I do hope so, umm where is Samantha if you don't mind I'd like to give it to her right now and catch up a bit"
Pamela: " of course, speaking of which where is that girl.Kathy! Kathy can you come here please!"
Kathy entered the room with a tray of beverages.greeting mr.Harrington and Ezra with a small bow and nod.
Kathy: "yes Ms.manson?"
Pamela: "Kathy do you know where Samantha is?"
Kathy: "I saw her go to the garden ms.manson"
Pamela: "yes can you show Ezra to the garden then?"
Kathy: " of course ms.manson, follow me sir Ezra"
Kathy walked out the room with Ezra holding his gift.Leaving the room to John,Pamela, and Jeremy.
"There was something you wanted to tell us John"
Pamela said as she lead John to a chair across from where Pamela sat next to Jeremy on the couch.
"Of course I wanted to talk to you and Jeremy about the details of the wedding".

As Kathy and Ezra walked through the house leading to the yard. Kathy could see Ezra was nervous from the look on his face to how he was clutching onto the small wrapped box.Kathy stopped at the entrance to the garden that had many entrances and even took you to a lake. Other houses were also connected to eachother by a garden but some did rather had a pond.Ezra looked down the path way with bush walls leading ahead. "Thank you for showing me the way... I'll see you later then" Ezra started to walk down the path but then was stopped by "WAIT!" Ezra turned around and saw in was Kathy not too far from him.Kathy looked at him biting her lip debating on if she should speak what's on her mind.she raised her head and stood tall and then spoke
"I know it's not my business mr.Harrington but I can't stand to see Sam I mean ms.manson spend her days crying about a situation she can't control.If you truly wish to marry her do it because you love her, not for a business deal,for money but because you truly love the person ms.manson is. I apologize if what I say offends you but I say it because I care about Sam and I hope you do too.."
Ezra stood there staring at Kathy. Kathy inside scared that she might be fired for what she just said especially to a person of his ranking but kept a cool face. Ezra let out a small sigh and smiled and walked up to Kathy
"Thank you for taking care of Sam and being someone she can lean on. But I assure you I didn't propose to Sam based on bad intentions.I truly care for Sam and love her.I'll take care of her I promise and don't worry I wont say anything about our talk"
"Thank you"
Kathy sighed with relief,Ezra giving her a reassuring smile. Kathy waved goodbye to Ezra and walked back into the house.Ezra continued following the path and led him to a place with benches to sit on by a pond and a big tree with a swing. But the swing swayed back and forth ,a girl with medium length hair wearing a light blue long skirt and black top swayed back and forth.Ezra had a good idea who it was and walked quietly behind her.As she started to lose some speed Ezra put down the gift on a bench and gave Sam a little push. Sam swang high and looked back to find Ezra behind her.He carefully stopped the swing and gave her a smile and said...
"hi.."
   "hi..."
Sam said with a shy voice, she then noticed how close their faces were making her flustered.Sam got off the swing and faced Ezra now both staring into eachother eyes like the night of the party. It had been a while since Sam had last seen Ezra and didn't expect to see him so soon. But then again later would still be too soon for Sam.
Ezra: "I don't think our house has anything like this, it's feels calm here"
Sam: "yeah especially when you want to be alone"
Ezra: "oh umm right I guess I did scare you didn't I"
Sam: "nothing is more scary than getting married to a stranger you just met or yeah maybe the swing thing was"
Ezra: "Sam I know your upset with me but you gotta understand i didn't propose to you because of some snobby reason,it's because I really do like you and want to get to know you more and you get to know me"
Sam: "you could have gotten to know me more before you asked me to marry you, in front of almost the whole neighborhood"
Ezra: " I know and that's why I decided to wait.."
Pamela & Jeremy: " 10 years!"
Mr.Harrington: " I know it seems like a long time but This is ezra's decision and what he thinks is best for him and Sam and I agree that.."
Ezra: "we should wait 10 years from now to get married and get to know eachother more then you can decide if you want to..."
Mr.Harrington: " cancel the engagement and wedding, it's up to Ezra and Sam to decide "
Jeremy: " John you and I know that this is ridiculo- "
Mr.Harrington: "if what you said was true that Sam really wants to marry my son then there should be no problems"
Jeremy: "..."
Pamela: " Of course Sam wants to marry Ezra,we told you before the party and besides Sam was so happy when he proposed."
Mr.Harrington: "then we'll just have to wait and see.who knows it might happen sooner than expected"
Sam: "Ezra 10 years is a really long time"
Ezra: " sam I wouldn't mind spending it by your side... please just give this a honest chance. If you say no after a while then I'll leave you alone and we'll go our separate ways."

   Ezra took Sam's hands and held them close to his chest.Sam could feel his rapid heartbeat meaning he meant what he said but then again he could be just a really good liar. Sam thought for a minute making it seem like hours for Ezra. But Sam broke the silence by giving his hands a small wheeze and looked up at him. Afterall what else did she have to lose when she had nothing to start with when she came to this town.Maybe this was her chance of freedom.
"Alright,one chance then"
Ezra let go of Sam's hands and embraced her, picking her up into a twirl.Sam felt a smile form on her face,when Sam got back on the ground she noticed a small box on a bench and walked over to it picking it up.
"What's this?someone must have left this earlier in the morning"
She traced the pattern of roses on the paper with her finger tips.Thinking to herself such a shame that such a beautiful was left behind...
{"Go ahead..open it Sam~, come on Sammy"}
"Open it.."
"What?"
Sam turned around and saw it was only Ezra.For a moment Sam thought..Only a thought she told herself.Ezra walked next to Sam and handed the present closer to her.
"It's a gift for you sam"
"For me"
"Come on go ahead I want to see your reaction"
Sam sat down on the bench and began to unwrap the bow,then the paper carefully and then opened the white box.Inside was her favorite book "Anne's 8 wonders" and a CD of her favorite songs.The gift plain as it was spoke a millions words.Ezra stood up and walked around the bench saying...
"I did some digging and happened to find out that this was your favorite book and noticed you didn't have it on your shelf, then found out your a big fan of the band star fall.Guess this means I do know something about you"
He gave a small grin to Sam,replying with a smile of her own.
"You've still got a long way to go hot shot"
"Oh so you think I'm ho-"
Before Ezra could finish that sentence.Sam put her hand behind his back and pushed him aiming towards the pond,Ezra quickly grabbed Sam's hand causing them to both fall in.They both swam up for air,sams hair all over her face made Ezra burst out laughing.
"You look like a sea monster"
"I'll show you a monster,"
    Sam splashed water into Ezra's face causing him to return the favor. Ending in them having a water fight, soon nightfall came and they found themselves back at the house some parts of their clothes still wet.Sam checked to see if the coast was clear because if her mom knew she was coming into the house wet her mom would kill her.Especially with ezra she'd probably get the scolding of her life.Sam and Ezra quietly walked through the house til they were spotted passing the living room by Pamela.Of course Pamela was upset. But mr.Harrington thought it was pretty funny and laughed after Ezra explained what had happened .Soon mr.Harrington and Ezra had to head home after mr.Harrington was called back to the office.Pam and Jeremy waved and hugged Ezra and Mr.Harrington goodbye.Sam and Ezra gave each other a hug goodbye and said to "take care of herself". When they finally left Sam started to walk upstairs but before she could leave her mother and father sat her down and lectured her on how she embarrassed them and herself. But Sam didn't care; she just blocked out what her parents said and promised she wouldn't do anything like that again like she always did whenever she got a lecture from her parents over ridiculous matters.Sam took the gift Ezra brought her upstairs and placed the book onto her bookshelf and neatly put away the box.All that was left was the CD laying on her bed,she grabbed her music player and put the disc in listening through her headphones.Sam pressed played and was surprised to hear ezra's voice through the CD
"Hey Sam It's Ezra, I'm guessing your listening to the CD I have you or maybe not... but um not only did I put your favorite songs on here but I put some songs that remind me of you. Hope you like them bye!"
The recording stopped and the first song began to play,Sam closed her eyes and began to feel herself sinking into her own little world again telling herself...
"Today was a good day"
