Talia woke to the sunrise and was unsure as to whether the pure bliss that she had shared with Edmund had been but a dream. But as she rolled over in her bed to stretch, she was surprised to see the boy lying beside her. She smiled at how he looked when he slept; he was calm, and she watched as his chest gently rose and fell with each coming breath. The innocence showed on his sleeping face, the peaceful and serene dreams blocking out the dangers of the outside. She wished that it could stay like this forever.
The tranquility was harshly interrupted by her door slamming open, "Talia!" the voices of two girls giggled, as they fell into the room.
Talia's eyes grew wide, "Shit." she mumbled under her breath, as she sat bolt upright facing Lucy and Susan who had come into her room. She turned to Edmund, shaking him awake, as the girls profusely apologised for their interruption, rushing outside to wait for the girl to call them back in.
"What?" Edmund muttered, his voice croaky, rolling over to look up at Talia- who now stood, getting changed out of her bedclothes.
"Your sisters." Talia exclaimed, pointing to the door.
"What about them?" he responded, still clouded with morning ignorance.
"They just walked in."
"Oh, shit," he spoke, jumping out of the bed. He ran over to her, and grabbed the side of her face, "I'll see you later." he softly whispered. The pair exchanged a sweet kiss- this time it was quick and over just as shortly as it began. But it left both of them with gentle blushes across their cheeks and pounding hearts. With that the young boy left the room, sending a smirk in Talia's direction as he closed the door behind him.
It wasn't long after the boy left that his sisters ran into the room. Talia turned to face the girl's giggles.
Susan spoke first, "So, I see that the pair of you have made up."
Talia sighed with a smile, "I promise we didn't do anything."
"Ahhhhh! I don't wanna' hear it!" the older girl exclaimed, not wanting to think of her brother in that way.
"We came to talk dresses." Lucy interjected, changing the subject. She ran outside to grab a trunk, probably about the same size as her, that overflowed with the most beautiful of dresses.
"Oh my, you have quite the collection." Talia spoke, excitedly.
"Your nurse, Sefnei, gave them to us. I think some of them may have used to be your old dresses." Susan explained, while pulling out a couple of dresses from the trunk.
"Yes, I believe they are." Talia responded, recognising a few.
"Wait how many do we need to choose?" Lucy questioned.
"I suppose one for the coronation and another for the ball tonight." Susan replied, "Although I have no idea which I will choose, they are all simply marvellous."
Talia laughed, "Aren't they? I had the finest dressmakers in the whole of the kingdom. They are all quite contrary to the rags we've been wearing these past few months." At this the girls broke out into chattering conversations.
Talia always warmed towards the softer, much more dainty dresses- ones of a lighter colour, and perhaps even floral details. Whereas Susan gravitated towards bolder colours, like deep red or navy blue. Where Talia enjoyed a tulle and lace style, Susan preferred a stiffer style of dress. And Lucy liked pastel colours, often choosing yellows and pinks. It was nice that each of the girls had their own taste in garments, as it lessened the tensions.
