It wasn't supposed to be like this
...
It's snowing today, white and fluffy just like a sheep! It's really chilly, but why do I feel cold? Is this numbing feeling real? Is it just my fingers tricking me? Where did the clouds go? Did they not like me the last time we met? Oh well...
It's normal that children have a wild imagination, but then is my reality all in my head? If I can imagine a whole reality, why wouldn't this one be made up too?
Why am I not normal and why does the line between dreams and realities blur so much for me, every time I wake up in reality, it feels bland and fake, my dreams are becoming more real to me than reality.
My parents aren't as worried as I am, they always think kids are making things up. Though they booked therapy for me so I can feel better. I want to grow up soon.
I guess I'll visit my dreams now... I don't want to loose reality, but my dreams is where I really live. As my thoughts ran wild, I lightly closed my eyes, and deep sleep hit me hard.
"Yona! Yona-chan?" A boy my age poked me as I opened my eyes. Oh it's just Saito, I'm back in my dream world.
"Hi Saito, I'm back now, let's go play!" I smiled brightly at him. I looked around my surroundings, my dream world is in an old Japanese town, filled with elders and children, not many adults. Though everyone is so kind and welcoming!
His dark hair fell infront of his eyes as he bent down and reached his hand to me. The second I grabbed it he pulled me towards him and ran towards the streets.
"Saito staaaawp you are going so fast!!" I giggled and ran to keep myself from tripping.
Saito looked back at me and smirked, without a word, he pulled me around the corner and into a familiar bookshop. The exterior was made from red wood, looks newly polished, and in big gold letters, it says 'Suzuki's bookshop'.
This bookshop was owned by Saito's grandparents, but his grandpa passed away few years ago. His grandma kept the shop alive with thousands of books, it was her last memory with him.
You see, when they were young, they dreamed of travelling the world and collecting books from all over the place, then starting a bookshop here, in their hometown Kanazawa. Though they never got the chance to do so, because they didn't have enough money so they could only start a small bookshop.
Even though the town was unpopular and the shop was small, many of the locals would visit everyday to keep Saito's grandma company, and I was the one who went most, with Saito of course.
Even though this all is just a dream, I keep coming back to this lovely place. The first time I got here I was 4, now I am 7 years old!! They say I'm very mature for my age though. It's probably from all the books I read with Saito and his grandma.
"Earth to Yona?" Saito waved his small hands infront of my face. I flushed bright red and gave him a sheepish smile.
We walked hand in hand into the store, I smelled the familiar scent of old books and Japanese sweets, a short sweet looking elderly woman walked towards us, it's grandma Minami!
"Yona darling, you're back from reality again!" The elderly woman smiled sweetly. "Come on, I baked your favourite cookies!!"
Saito smiled at me and we walked from the entrance to the colorful beanbag sofa and sat down and sank in. Grandma Minami put a tray of delicious smelling cookies onto the small wooden coffee table infront of the beanbags.
"Eat up, there's plenty, would you two want to continue the book about creation of the world?" Grandma Minami took out the thick blue book, it had an interesting cover, in bold gold letters it says 'laws of the universe'.
We began reading this book yesterday, it told about how the universe is infinite and everything we imagined exists! I really hope this would have been true in real life, because then I could stay with Saito and Grandma forever!
"Yes please grandma! Read it! Read it!" Saito bounced up and down, while he was still stuffing his face with cookies, unlike him, I ate gracefully.
"Going to different realities through your conciousness is called reality shifting, it is the act of shifting your mind to your other body in the other reality you wish to go to, you exist in all realities, though you can also look different." Grandma Minami started. "Anyone can do this if they have the right mindset, all you have to do is believe in yourself, sounds cliche but it's true."
As grandma Minami's soft words spread to us like a melody, I started to drift off to sleep. I tried to keep myself awake, so I wouldn't have to go back to reality yet.
"It's okay Yona darling, you're tired, you can visit us again tomorrow." Grandma Minami smiled gently. I glanced over to the silent Saito, he was asleep too.
I closed my eyes and let the heaviness consume me.
