It is a week before I have to leave. With Annabeth, and the tension was unbelievable. Luckily, Paige hadn't caught on yet but I knew she would eventually. At night there was no good night kisses, instead she would turn over so that she was not facing me, or Annabeth would 'accidentally' forget to cook me dinner. I hated it, I hated seeing her like this but I needed to go to make save peoples lives, to bring peace. Interactions were kept to minimal, I just wanted to get this over and done with, even worse, I dreaded to see the Paige's facs not only when someone tells her, but when it is time for me to leave. Paige was 3. I couldn't miss 8 months of my daughters lives?.
Stop Percy, you have to do this to save lives
My fatal flaw side of my brain argued, but the normal part of my brain begged to differ
Ever thought about your family, you could miss some very important events. What would Annabeth say?, you could create an unfixable hole in your relationship!
I sighed, I knew this WAS going to cause a hole, and this deployment is bringing in way too many problems then it should be, starting to rethink my judgement of going. Should I?, I really was wondering if it was worth the fuss.
I tried to focus on the present, keep my eye on the ball and stay calm. We could get through this, we always do?, like I turned down immortality for here, for God's sake! I really hoped we could get through this, I'm not sure If I could live without her.
Blocking out my thoughts, I busied myself cooking dinner. The heavenly sent of Carbanara filled my lungs, shunning my thoughts to the back of my mind. Once I was finished, I called everyone to dinner. Paige, who had been playing with their toys with her mother, bounded in. I hoisted the up and buckled them in. She giggled and placed a slobbery kiss on my cheek. I scrunched my nose up.
Paige was drinking her juice out of her sippy cup, giggling when I tickled them. She then threw her arms in the air, apple juice flying out onto the grey, LVT floor. I smirked.
"Really Paige?", I laughed. She just laughed. Eventually, Annabeth came in. She was wearing a blue belted Bishop, long sleeved mini dress. She was gorgeous. She looked at me and smiled, then kissed my cheek. Where did that come from?. She sat down.
I decided I may as well play along, so I put on my best smile "Ahh, thanks Perce. You knew I love this!"
"Only the best, for you." I smirked, a little unsure on what had got her so happy, she hadn't been like this for a week. What was up?.
"So cheesy," She muttered, shaking her head... but with a smile. I sat down a bit mystified, but masked it with a laugh. I was wearing black jeans and a long sleeve, white sweatshirt. We ate dinner, conversing over what had happened today, Paige, on the other hand, babbled and happily munched on her baby food. It was a weird day, why was Annabeth like this?
A/N: Short, I know. I am just not that sure how much I want to continue with this story, I am updating more on my other work, Percabeth: A Future. Check it out, comment anything and remember to vote!
