"Wake up..." A child-like voice echoed in my head. "Wake up...This is no place to sleep." The voice echoed again.
"Wha-Where...Not again..." I retorted waking back up in the dark.
"You're up...I was getting lonely." The voice said with a hint of joy and mischief.
"Who are you?" I replied squinting my eyes and trying to see through the darkness.
"A friend, silly." The voice responded with an ecstatic response.
"A friend...Right...I suppose you don't know where we are then friend?" I responded sarcastically as I got up to my feet and again tried to survey the empty darkness that surrounded me.
"We? Friend? You mean...You mean me and you? And that I'm your friend?" The voice questioned seeming to be happy at the thought of me saying the word we.
"Uh...Yea who else?" I again responded sarcastically trying to hide the annoyance in my voice.
"We are in the In-Between, the place that exists between the world outside and the world of dreams.." The voice replied trying it's hardest to try and seem at least knowledgeable of wherever this place is.
"The In-Between...Right so how do we get out of the In-Between uh..." I stopped as I realized I didn't even ask my "New Friend" it's name.
"Uh...You stopped before you finished your question silly." The voice exclaimed, giggling like a child.
"Yea...I forgot to ask you 'Friend' what's your name?" I motioned my hand as if asking a person their name.
"My name? My name...I don't have one." The voice replied with a hint of sadness in its tone.
"You don't have a name? Then how am I supposed to know my new friend then?" I asked as I was genuinely concerned and confused at her response.
"I wasn't given a name, only a purpose." The voice replied, sounding more and more sad at the thought of not having a name.
" A purpose?" I asked as I looked at my hand, the purple symbol glowing and pulsating like a heartbeat in rhythm with mine.
"You're...You're the flower." I exclaimed looking closer at the glowing symbol on my hand and seeing it pulsate when the voice talked.
"Yup! I am the flower that you killed." The voice replied nonchalantly, throwing in the fact that I killed it in a fit of rage.
"Right...I'm...I'm sorry that I killed you I didn't mean to." I apologized, clutching my hand over my chest.
"I know you didn't mean to Silly but, it was fate that brought us together, you picking me out of all of my siblings and crushing me in your hand was fate, and because of that our destinies are intertwined, I am you as much as you are me." The voice said with determination and purpose.
"You aren't mad that I accidentally killed you once?" I asked, still clutching my hand over my chest.
"Nope, if I was I wouldn't have been brought back with a new purpose." The voice responded with a hint of smugness in it.
"Okay, and what purpose is that?" I asked looking at the symbol on my hand.
"That's for me to know and for you to find out." The voice responded with a definite smugness.
"Right...Right the whole 'knowing your own destiny will unmake you' spiel. Well then what do I call you? It'll be rude not to ask you your name, and make me look less like a maniac talking to myself." I asked.
