The daft old man
The mysterious blue box
They fell from the sky
And broke my red mailbox
The small little girl
With carrots for hair
All alone in her house
Her parents not there
The odd fellow, she fed him
"Oh, this just won't do!"
Said the strange man, said he
"I want custard, not stew!"
He looked under the girl's bed
And chased the monsters away
But just when he finished,
Something caused him to stay
The crack in her wall
The whispers in her dreams
Claiming that Prisoner Zero
Had escaped with a scheme
He said not to worry
That he'd but an errand to run
And after some time,
My doubts still consisted of none
Others told me to stop
He was an "imaginary friend"
But little did they know,
His story hadn't come to an end
Fourteen long years
And yet he still looked the same
My Raggedy Doctor
He finally came
He whisked me away,
Apologizing for the delay
But soon got caught in a quandary
And my hair turned to grey
My whole life I've been waiting
For a centurion or a knight
My dear Raggedy Man,
I've put up a long fight
With myself and the Universe
About finally giving up
And though you can't help it,
Sorry,
Time's up.
I'm tired of waiting
I don't care that you said
That "you'll always be here for me."
You're just a story in my head.
