Today was not different in the way Y/n was acting. She was just as quiet and short responsed as she was all week. I decided to stop texting her, I didn't want to keep bothering her. The feeling that the way she was acting, had something to do with me specifically, kept eating at me. I tried to think back to last week, did I do something wrong? Did meeting my mom make her uncomfortable? But she insisted on having dinner with her and she even said she enjoyed dinner. But why would she just shut down like this? She's barely been talking to anyone. She bails on plans, hasn't been going to the park, she even bailed when we said we were gonna go to that candy shop.
I didn't like this. I was worried about her. Selfishly I was worried for us, I know we were only friends, but I didn't think it was too far fetched to consider that she liked me back, but now I don't know. I wanted so bad to confess to her and it was driving me crazy, I hated seeing the way she was and not being able to do anything about it.

My mom had been bothering me all week to ask Y/n to eat dinner with us today because my dad wanted to meet her. I kept postponing asking her because of how little she's been talking to me. It was lunchtime and I decided to ask her while everyone wasn't paying attention. "Hey." She turned her head to look at me and I swear I felt my heart beat out of my chest, she's barely even looked at me all week. "Uh my mom wanted to know if you wanted to have dinner with us today, my dad wants to meet you. You don't have to obviously but I told her I'd ask." "Oh I'm sorry I can't today, but uhm maybe another time. Tell them I apologize." She gave me a small smile. "Yah, ok" I said looking away.

"Oh wheres Y/n?" My mom said as she greeted me. "She couldn't make it." I said sourly as I greeted my dad. "Oh? What a shame I was looking forward to her company. Trouble in paradise?" She said as we sat down at the dinner table. I didn't say anything, I couldn't give her a clear answer on what was going on because I didn't even know what was going on.
"And Y/n is his girlfriend?" My dad asked. "She not my girlfriend." I said glaring. "I don't see why not, she's a lovely girl." My mom said smiling. "It doesn't matter, she doesn't like me." I said turning away. "Oh so you do like her~" my dad teased and my mom laughed. "Shut up." I groaned. "Sweetie, what do you mean she doesn't like you?" My mom asked now being serious.
"She's barely talked to me all week, barely even giving me a second glance." I sighed, now annoyed that I was talking about this with my parents. "Oh? Have you talked to her about it?" My dad asked. "Well yeah, she just keeps saying she's fine, I don't want to keep bothering her about it." "I think you should talk to her, in person. There must be something wrong. I've seen the way that girl looks at you, she's smitten." My mom smiled. "I don't know.." "Son, you're a catch! You talk to her and get yourself a girlfriend!" My dad said. "Yes! I'm just glad she's not like that other awful girl."
As they continued talking and laughing about different topics I just thought on their words. They were right, I can't do this anymore. I have to know what's going on with her. I have to know for sure if she feels the same way about me or not. I can't keep being around her but not being able to do the things I want to do.
