-Next day-

Mother had called both Susan and I down, which was odd because it wasn't lunch time. The two of us cautiously entered the living space seeing both our father and mother sat on the large sofa in the corner.

"Is everything okay?" Susan asked.

"Dear Miss Susan and (Y/N) Reynolds, I am glad to tell you that you have been invited to the Mid-year summer ball, hosted by Mr Philip Schylur. Ball will be held tonight at New York City Hall at 19:00. I look forward to seeing you two there" Father looked up from the sheet of paper and directly at us two. "If you can find a dress for the evening you may go as long as you are home not too late tonight" He said with a small smile.

"Really?" Susan added with a smile, she has always wanted to go to a fancy ball- that was the least on my mind, I promised I'd meet up with Philip later tonight.

"Yes really" He added and with that Susan had dragged me upstairs.

"Slow down, we have hours" I said as she sat me down on her bed.

"No we don't" Susan started rummaging through her closet. "Okay so, we need to stand out, not like a sore thumb but we need the attention, we need men" Susan said as she turned around with two dresses in her arms.

"I don't want attention though" I sighed as she gave me bright orange fabric and ushered me to the bathroom to change.

I stared at the orange dress, it really did shout 'hey look at me' which is what I didn't want. I sighed and threw the dress on and walked back to Susan.

"No and no" I huffed. She stopped to stare and then went back digging.

"Okay orange aint the best" She muttered.

"Gimme that red one I really like" I added

"But I wanna wear that" She pouted.

"Then gimme the blue one" I suggested and she did.

-lil skip to just after lunch-

I managed to escape the house for a little breather, Susan was going mental over this invite. So I decided that an after lunch walk would help me gain sanity.

"HEY! (Y/N)!" I stopped to take a look around. It was Philip, he was running up behind me, he grabbed my waist to slowly guide himself to be stood in front of me.

"Uh hey" I smiled "OH I need to talk to you about tonight-" I started

"yeah me too" He smiled, "ladies first" he added.

"Oh, well my sister and I got an invite to a ball, and were both going, so I don't think I can meet you at the square tonight" I added and Philip looked over the moon. "Why are you happy about that?" I asked.

"Because I'm going to that ball- I was the one who told my grandpa to invite you" He smiled and got closer, his hands traveling from my side to my back, this caused a small tint of red to make its way across my face.

"Then that's good, I feel a little at ease now" I added before slowly removing his hands from my waist. He did then seem a little blue due to my movement.

"That's good, anyway where were you off to?" He asked before we started walking again.

"Just out and about, get some air, my sister is really excited for this ball so I needed to escape." I smiled slightly.

"I see... well at least we know someone is excited for that ball" Philip chuckled before leading me down a couple roads to loop the block before he walked me back to my door. Little did we know there was a Susan spying on us from one of the windows.

"Anyway, thanks for joining me for that walk" I thanked, he nodded and kissed the back of my hand.

"You're welcome m'lady" Philip said with a small smirk before taking his leave. "Oh, tonight- I will wait for you by the front okay? A pretty girl like yourself cant be left alone at a party as large as this one" He winked and faded away into the crowd.

-3rd POV-

(Y/N) had entered the house once Philip had left, still possessing stomach fireworks due to Philips actions, but little did she know, this very charming guy, in his attempts to swoon (Y/N) had gone off to do that exact same thing to someone else further down the street...
