Father was right.

Running business is intricate and time consuming. I have to read a lot of documents before I sign a contract. I am not foolish enough to sign binding contracts before reading until the fine print.

Therefore, I am stuck in my father's office for hours now. Correction — my office. My mom and I inherited everything he had after I got rid of him and his ridiculous will.

Two weeks have passed since I killed him, and a lot has happened after his death. A week after his funeral, I had to appear in court to prove that I killed him while defending myself.

It wasn't difficult to prove my innocence as his office had a camera and I gave the footage to the judge.

Some parts — where I got him angry so that he strangled me and my words were a mere whisper — had almost no tune from my side, making the whole thing better for me.

After the judge watched the footage of my mad father — beating me up and strangling me — for not signing a contract, I was charged free.

But I am not happy. Money doesn't make me happy. Because I neither need money nor power in life to be happy, I needed him. Roman. He makes me happy.

But I doubt he wants anything to do with me after I put him in jail. He probably hates my guts and regrets saving me that night.

Though, I am fine with him hating me as long as he is safe. And he is safe in police custody. If I hadn't report him, he would be free. But he can't be free now, otherwise Antonio will kill him.

However, I know Alessi will not kill Roman while he is in police custody — not after I have claimed that Roman and his brother kidnapped me for him.

He will be the prime suspect if the two of them are killed after I have reported that they both work for him. Anyway, Roman is going to be free and powerful soon.

I will make him powerful. I will make him strong. I will make him wealthy. I will make him invincible. I will make sure no one can harm us.

But first, I have to convince the judge to discharge him by our first trial in the court, and I will do everything in my power to set him free — even if I appear as a fool in the end.

After I killed my father, I had to appear in court this week, therefore, his case is postponed to next week.

Someone knocked on the door, bringing me back from my thoughts. "Come on in."

My smile is nothing friendly but hostile as I put the contracts I am reading aside.

He flew from Washington all the way to Mexico after my father died.

But I am not dumb, neither am I naïve. I know he isn't here to mourn for my father's death with me, or to take care of me, he is here for power.

He wants the power I own. He wants the seat I sit. He wants everything I have now. He wants to be me — and I know he is ready to dethrone me at all costs.

However, I won't let that happen. I am not the obedient little girl who they can push around — not anymore.
