People Fall in Love in Mysterious Ways

Chapter 2

*Sarah's POV*

"Dylan come on!" I moaned, "I swear you take longer to get ready than I do!" I prodded at his face.

"Only because you aren't a normal girl" he grinned smugly.

"I thought you loved me" I put my hands over my mouth, acting shocked.

"Now who told you that lie!" he laughed.  I love Dylan, he's my bestfriend.  Well, him and Thomas. We're like the three musketeers and no one can break us.  After ten minutes, we were finally ready to leave.

"Will I phone a cab?" he asked.

"Dont be so bloody lazy Dyl, it's a nice night, we can walk.  It's not that far to the pub." I flashed him as smile.  He groaned and with that we left.

We got about half way when a group of lads with their hoods up started to approach us.

"Alright darlin'." One of them called as another onewhistled.

"How do you fancy having some real fun." Another half shouted as thy got closer.

"No thanks, you're quite alright" I replied simply, taking a step closer to Dylan.

"Come on love, we'll take care of you." The first one spoke again as they blocked our path.

"She said no buddy, why don't you go annoy some other pretty girl." Dylan spoke, taking my hand in his and slightly standing in front of me.

"Listen to this guy," one of them laughed, "how about you fuck off back to America mate!" he continued.

"Look, she doesn't want to go with you, learn to take a hint!" Dylan spoke again, tightening his grip on my hand.  One of them grabbed my wrist pulling me away from Dylan.

"Why dont you tell your little boyfriend to do one love." He spoke in my ear.

"He's not my boyfriend, now let my fucking go!" I tried to break free from his grasp but it was too tight.  I felt something sharp press against my cheek.  It didnt take long for me to realise it was some sort of blade.

"Back the fuck off!" Dylan yelled, pushing the guy with the blade to the floor.  He got straight back up and headed for Dylan.

"Gonna get yourelf stabbed mate.  Just let us take little miss here off you hands, then you'll have nothing to worry about." He pointed the blade at Dylan.

"Stab me then, because you're not going anywhere with her!" he almost hissed.  I didnt have tie to think because before I knew it what was happening, Dylan grabbed my hand and started running away from them. 

Just as I turned to see how far away form them we were, a rush of pain shot through my side.  Then everything slipped away into darkness.

*Dylan's POV*

I heard a gunshot and Sarah's and started to slip from mine.  I was down by her side without realised.

"Sarah! SARAH!" I called out to her, "Sarah stay with me, please stay with me!"  I almost whispered, taking my phone out of my pocket and dialling 999.

"The ambulance is on it's way," I whispered.  Her head was in my left hand and I had my jacket in a bundle pushed against her wound. She's my best friend.  How could I have let this happen to her.  She trusted me with her life and I might have failed her in the biggest way possible.  The sound of sirens made me look up from her face.  It was only at that moment that I realised I was crying.  The paramedics took over and got her into the ambulance.  I sat on a stool at the top of the stretcher.  This can't happen. She can't die! I kissed her forehead. Thomas! I need to tell Thomas! Dread as to what I might actually have to tell him washed over me almost instantly.

"They took her to theatre, I dont know if she's okay!" I spoke quickly down the phone.  We had arrived at the hospital and they took her away as soon as we got here and I was told to wait in the waiting room.  So here I was.

"What the bloody hell are you on about Dylan? Where were you tonight?" Thomas questioned.

"Sarah! Some thug shot her!" I almost yelled.

"What?! Why are you just telling me this now?! Is she okay? Have you spoke to the police? I'll be right there!" He hung up before I could say anything else. I'm kind of glad though. I dont know what to say to him, he loves her almost as much as I do..
