written in Remus's pov

The end of the summer was approaching, and the soft breeze coming through the open window was no longer cutting it to keep the teenagers cool. Remus was sat in his and Sirius's room listening to a vinyl, Sirius was in a white vest and shorts lent up against his wall cross legged trying to figure out a new chord on the guitar he had saved for all of the past school year. His parents were filthy rich but didn't provide him much money as another way to show their disappointment in who he is. Remus who was also sat on the bed against the headboard though, was watching him and chatting, trying to help him out. His parents could never afford to buy him a guitar but it had always interested him. He was currently wearing a rolling stones sleeveless shirt and baggy jeans that were cuffed at the ankle. "Finally." Remus laughed when the sound that came out of the guitar didn't sound flat and off key. Sirius looked up at him rolling his eyes but he couldn't hide the smile on his face, "I'm a talented man, admit it moons" He joked back running a hand through his mid length hair, Remus laughed moving his leg slightly to kick the smaller boys arm lightly. "As talented as you are humble," he told him, Sirius pretended to be offended sarcastically putting a hand over his chest, "savage." although they were doing nothing more than chatting in the room they were sharing over the summer these were some of Remus's favourite times.

It's a feeling he could never find the words to explain, looking into Sirius's eyes, forgetting all the thoughts in his head. He knew not what the feeling was but how it felt, it was addicting and scary, but warm.

As the sun began to set, the boys continued to chat into the late night. Black had long given up on playing his guitar and they were now just sat face to face talking about everything and nothing. the sun was rising as the conversation finally fizzled away in exhaustion, they hadn't stopped grinning all night from the early evening to the early morning.

They fell asleep in that position the guitar still on the bed, "Boys?" A voice asked knocking at the door and opening it slightly the two soon stirred cracking their eyes open "Oh, yeah sorry Mr Potter we're up." Remus mumbled, standing up looking at the drawers he shook his head trying to wake himself . "No it's fine boys Mrs Potter has made breakfast so she just wanted me to tell you, you can come down later though if you want." he replied smiling at them, Sirius shook his head "No it's fine we'll come now." he muttered standing up also and walking to the drawers, he nodded then closed the door and left. "do you mind if I borrow a shirt?" Remus asked, Sirius looked up at him and smiled but quickly looked away. "no, take whatever you want." he answered, he put on a pink Floyd shirt and kept on the same shorts that cut off halfway down his thigh. Remus took a white shirt he took off his old shirt and put on the new one, taking the socks he had lying on his own bed opposite where they had slept. They walked down the stairs, Remus still ruffling his curly hair trying to make it look presentable.

As they entered the kitchen Mrs Potter greeted them both with a kiss on the cheek and a cheery good morning, like every other. James was already sat at the table reading the newspaper, he looked up noticing they had entered "Morning," he said, smiling. Sirius took a seat next to Remus on the table James and Mr Potter were sat at either end of, and Mrs Potter was finishing breakfast in the kitchen. James had spent the night before reading and listening to music, after dinner he had bid the other two boys farewell and disappeared into his room. "morning" Sirius muttered looking over to where Mrs Potter was bringing through breakfast, she was carrying plates filled with bacon, sausages, toast and eggs. "thank you," the four said in chorus, she smiled cheerily at them taking a seat opposite sirius.

"So are you going to town today?" Mr Potter asked, starting to eat the breakfast, "Yeah," Remus answered before shoving a piece of bacon into his mouth, James mumbled something they couldn't understand "I'm going to Lily's today." he repeated once he had finished chewing. "oh well me and Moony will just go," Sirius replied, he was cutting a piece of sausage, "Alright then," Mrs Potter said running a hand through James's hair, she was stood up again getting drinks. They were like the perfect family, although none of the boys were related they were closer than brothers, Mr and Mrs Potter thought of Remus and Sirius as their own. Remus had spent a big part of his Summers at the Potter's since 2nd year, the last Summer he got to spend with his mam, he had never had the best relationship with his father since the bite so left home after the funeral, Sirius and James had attended too in support and he left with them that day. He normally only spent a few weeks a year with his dad, but it wasn't like they talked much when he was home anyway, his dad usually left at six came back at nine at night and ignored Remus until he went to sleep.
"don't be out too late though boys, need to get your camping stuff ready." Mr potter grinned cheekily
"We're allowed to go?" Sirius asked excitedly
"i'm not keen on it, but Fleamont has done his best to convince me." Mrs potter replied with an amused sigh.
the boys had been planning the trip for weeks, a final weekend with their friends before school
