"it's boring up here," Marlene announced, she was sat on Remus' bed next to him while he finished his paper he had started the previous night, with different company. "i thought it would be different" he looked at her
"maybe it's funner when the other guys are in, i'm almost done." he replied smiling softly, she slipped onto her stomach so she was lying next to him, he could smell her rose scented perfume it was too strong and slightly metallic he never had liked perfume. "walk?" he suggested placing his quill down and pulling himself up to his knees
"yeah," she seemed surprised by his sudden movement but was happy to go along. Remus nodded and opened the door, holding it for her 'gentlemanly isn't it?' he thought 'girls like that' she took the lead as he followed her downstairs and through the common room where he caught eyes with James who winked with a grin.
they walked in companionable silence until they reached the grounds, the autumn afternoon air not yet fully cooled."it's nice out." she grabbed his hand as they continued down to the lake where they took seats under a large oak.
Remus leaned against it, Marlene against him his arm wrapped around her much like the drunken night on the beach.
"you excited for classes to start?" he asked, staring across the lake.
"excited's a strong word," she replied, Remus let out a soft chuckle and looked down at her, "not everyone's a nerd lupin."
"i'm just smart Marls, what can i do?" Remus jeered "gifted one might say." Marlene nudged him moving even further into him with a laugh.
"i'd say a prat" she responded "just me though."
"i'm sure you're not alone in that"
"oh don't be a downer Remus" Marlene laughed looking up at him, he cracked a grin looking down at her. 'she really is pretty' her cheeks were rosy which complimented her pink lips, and her soft blonde hair framed her face well. 'this feels like a kiss moment' he lent down locking lips with her, he could feel her smiling. As they broke apart what felt like minutes later she looked giddy still, Remus smiled down at her slightly out of breath
"stay still." Marlene whispered motioning onto her knees so they were face to face, she pulled her jumper over her hands and rubbed the corner of his lips, "got some lipstick on ya." she told him noticing his confused eyes. she placed a quick peck on his lips and sat back down.
"thanks," Remus replied, repositioning himself to make them comfy. "fancy a fag?" he offered unsure what to say next
"wouldn't say no."
he pulled out a 12 pack and took two out, lighting them both with his wand- a trick he had been eager to test since reading about it in the summer. "very fancy.""only the best for a fine lady like yourself," he replied handing her a cig "if i had thought i would of brought some grass, you're a lady of class after all."
"that i am." she replied with a smirk taking a drag "i'll forgive though dearest."
"well thank you sweet pea" Remus replied
"disgusting" Marlene laughed sitting up straight and turning to face him, he hung his head low in mock-shame "promise me to never ever say that again."
"I promise." Remus laughed "snuggle buns"
"ew, get away." Marlene yelled standing up, she was laughing with her straight white teeth on show, a genuine smile on her face. She looked beautiful.
"oh come on, you know you love it." Remus followed after her his arms outstretched for a hug
"away" she backed off from him with a grin . he chased her, both laughing with huge smiles, he was happy, she was happy- that was enough for now.
