Pulling up to the car rental place, our dad's hopped out, proceeding to the front desk to "check us in" or whatever...basically so we could rent a car.
"So..." Jeff started, turning to us. "My son's have some friends who do YouTube so I know a little bit about it, surprising I know since I didn't exactly grow up with technology" he chuckled." What kind of content do you guys like to put out?"
Jaylee and I looked at each other. Honestly, we weren't quite sure what genre of videos we were classified as. We did a whole bunch of different types, mainly vlogs I suppose, however we did have quite a few DIY's, hauls, and practically everything else. That being said, there is an exception. Our channel has yet to produce a gaming video, however we've been wanting to maybe start because why not?
That's basically what we told Jeff, with much more rambling and unnecessary explanations.
Our dad's came back, jingling the key to the rental car we got, to which we all started to unload our luggage out of Jeff's vehicle and into our temporary ride.
The parents began talking about how to get to our temporary home, since we didn't know the roads that well. We overheard Jeff offering to lead the way in his own car. Meanwhile, Jaylee pulled the vlog camera out in front of us:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Okay guys! So we just got our rental car, so we can be on our way to our current home away from home" Jaylee said, doing a quick 360 of the car (don't worry, we'll block the license plate when we edit).
"Yup! And now we will be on our way to, as Jay said before, and I quote our "home away from home"" I teased.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As we arrived at our current home for the next bit, we continued to vlog, showing off the exterior of the establishment.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We just pulled up to our new home, and wow!" I exclaimed, looking around at the place.
"We are gonna meet you guys inside in a bit, just so we can make sure we are all properly settled." Jay said.
"AND to also make sure we don't forget anything."
"Hey! I haven't forgotten that many things!"
"Sureeee" I laughed. "We'll see you guys in a bit!" I exclaimed, cutting the camera while putting my hand over the lens to make the oh-so-familiar scene switch.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walking into our condo, it was pretty spacious which was nice, especially if we made friends and wanted to make collabs with them. Our dad's were still outside, talking and thanking Jeff for all his help today.
Jaylee immediately flopped onto the couch out of exhaustion from our travel day, grabbing the remote and turning on the TV. I, on the other hand, decided to explore our place a bit, just to see where we will be living.
Here's the basic run down of the place:
- It's two stories, on the top floor are the bedrooms and bathrooms
- 3 bedrooms (two with one bed, and one with two beds)
- 4 bathrooms (one connected to each bedroom, one on the main floor)
- a kitchen with a counter and a bar type sitting area looking into the kitchen.
- a 4-seat kitchen table (obviously)
- and a TV, couch, and coffee table (which is right by the back door, leading to a balcony)
I won't lie, it's better than I thought it would be. Most of the time the places we stay at are pretty small and not very "home-feely", if you know what I mean.
I'd assumed that Jaylee and I would be sharing the room with two beds, while our dad's each get their own room and bathrooms. Grabbing my luggage from downstairs and greeting my dad and Ben at the door with a quick conversation of how the place was feeling and whatnot, I lugged it upstairs so I could start unpacking what I brought. On the way up I did notice that Jay fell asleep on the couch.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
After waking Jay up an hour later so she could unpack, and both of us having fully "moved in" to our new room, our dad's called us downstairs.
"Girls, guess what." Dad said. "We won't be cooking tonight!"
We looked at each other.
"So we are going out for dinner?" Jay questioned.
"Yes and no." Ben responded to his daughter. "Yes because we are leaving, so make sure you get ready. No because we aren't going to a restaurant. Jeff had insisted on inviting us over for dinner to finish off our travel day. Maybe we'll play some board games and stuff with his kids, who will also be visiting for dinner."
I looked at Jay and immediately knew what we were both thinking. Oh goodness, now we have to get ready to impress people.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Alright everyone, guess what we just found out!" Jaylee exclaimed, taking her hand off the lens to complete the transition we started earlier.
"We are going to Jeff's tonight for dinner and to hang out with his kids." Jay continued. "I don't know how much we will be vlogging tonight, just because we want to be in the moment with everyone, and also the fact that we don't know if they'll want to be filmed." She ended with a shrug.
"We were also told they do social media, so maybe they'll want to be in the vlog, but we for one know that sometimes you just want to relax and stay of the internet for a bit, so we'll have to see!" I finished.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the quickest showers I think we have ever taken in our lives, as well as moments of vlogging between, both Jay and I were changed into comfy, casual, and cute outfits, makeup done (Jay did a simple look, while I really just put on some mascara). We were definitely ready to leave the house and meet some new people, and, hopefully, future friends!
