Chapter 1: Quirk Doctor

Izuku POV

"Today is the day!" I run into mama's and papa's room as fast as I can and jump onto their bed. Papa lets out a small grunt and I giggle slightly. Papa doesn't like mornings much. I turn to mama as she begins to sit up.

"Good morning my little hero." She says with a beaming smile.

"Morning mama!" I jump into her lap. "Today is the day! Today we find out my quirk! Mama, I'm so excited!" I say bouncing slightly in her lap. Dad groans again and finally sits up rubbing his eyes.

"Izuku, don't you know how early it is? We don't leave for the doctor until 9." I look over to the clock and it reads '7:12'. My smile waivers a bit as I look back to papa.

Lowering my head a bit I say, "I-i'm sorry papa." He sighs and ruffles my hair.

"It's fine bud, I'm just sleepy." He gives a small smile, but I can't help but feel that he has something bothering him. I shake off the feeling as mama speaks again.

"Alright Izu, how about since we are all up, we have a big yummy breakfast before we leave? Does that sound good?" She cups my face in her hands and brings my nose to hers. I let out a small laugh and nod. "Ok, you go get dressed and I'll get started." I run out of the room and go to get changed. Before reaching my door I remember that I wanted to ask mama if I could bring my All Might toy to the doctor. I turn on my heal and walk back to mama's room. I get to the door and see it slightly open. Oops, I guess I forgot to close it when I left. I hope papa doesn't get mad. I get to the door and hear mama and papa talking. Papa's voice is a bit loud and he sounds kind of mad. 

"Hisashi. He is only 4. He doesn't need quirk training yet."

"You baby him too much. He is going to start training at the end of the week. His quirk will get strong f he wants it to or not." I look through the crack in the door, not wanting to ruin their conversation. Plus, papa seems mad, and he isn't very nice when he gets mad.

"We don't even know what his quirk is yet, let alone if he has one." Mama's voice seems a bit shaky, and I start to wonder if I should even be listening.

"You shut it woman. If he doesn't have a quirk that means you failed me." I move away from the door and put my back against the wall. I don't really know what he is saying, but it sounds kind of mean and mama looked scared. I hear mama start sniffling. This makes me sad. I don't like it when mama cries. Why is papa being so mean? 

I walk away from the door and try to shake off what just happened. I have to look at the bright side! I'll be finding out my quirk today!

... right?

I walk out of my room fully dressed and holding my All Might toy tightly. I look around the corner to see mama in the kitchen making breakfast. The smell of pancakes fills the apartment. I make it up to her and lightly tug on the bottom of her shirt. When she turns her head I can see that hers eyes are a bit red.

"Mama, are you ok?" She gives me a small smile and pats my head.

"Of course Izu. I couldn't be happier. Today is your big day!" She beams at him, washing away all of his worry. With a big smile he runs off to the table and sits down, patiently waiting.

3rd POV

Soon the family of three was ready to go. They get into their car and drove to the hospital for the long awaited test.

In the waiting room, Izuku couldn't contain his excitement. He swung his legs back and forth in his seat while humming a little tune. His father sat across from him and watched him with stern eyes. Izuku caught his eyes at one point and his father scoffed, quickly turning his head to the side. Did I do something wrong? Izuku thought.

After a few minutes, the family was called in. They sat in a small office room filled with medical equipment. The small boi looked around nervously as the doctor explained how the test would work. After awhile, the doctor was finally ready. She looked at Izuku with soft eyes.

"Hey Izuku, I'm Dr. Hikaru, I'll be doing your quirk test today." Izuku, still nervous, nodded at her quietly. "No need to be nervous little guy." She smiled at Izuku and he became a little less tense.

"Good job. Alright Izuku. I'm going to need to take a smaple so this might sting for a bit." She paused, seeing the flicker of fear in the boys eyes. "Can you be brave for me?" This seemed to light a fire in the boys eyes as he confidently nodded. The doctor let out a small chuckle. Once she had the sample, the doctor walked out saying she was going to run the tests on the sample.

After walking out of the room, Izuku slowly looked up at his father again. Trying to determine if the man was still upset. He saw his father leaning against the wall with his arms crossed and his eyebrows furrowed. This made the man look even more intimidating than he already did. He was a very big man, so it was natural to be a little timid around him. 

His father caught his eyes and Izuku quickly turning his attention to his All Might figure. He felt his mothers arm draped over his shoulders. She hugged him tightly and pinched his cheeks a little, making the boy let out a small laugh.

To Izuku the wait felt like forever, when finally, Dr. Hikaru entered the room again. However, this time, she didn't have the same soft look in her eyes. No, this look was more sad.

Sitting down in front of the family, she broke the news.

"I'm so sorry, but.." She paused, looking at Izuku and his bright hopeful eyes, she started to tear up a bit. "I'm sorry, but your son is quirkless." In that moment, it was as if all the air had been sucked from the room. No one moved and Izuku's bright eyes flickered with an intense sadness the boy hadn't felt before.

A look of pure fear spread across Inko's face as she quickly turned her head to look at her husband. Trying to play it off, she looked back to the doctor.

"U-uuh th-thank you doctor. W-w-we will be off n-now." Inko said slowly, grabbing Izuku in her arms. Her voice broke as she tried to keep herself from crying. She knew what was about to come.
