Once he had arrived back at the kingdom, Stephan made haste in giving news of the young queens death. He yelled it through the windows of the carriage and practically ran to the councils room to give them the news, eagerly passing the tragedy onto maids that were sure to gossip.
The council members consisted of five men and one woman. They always agreed on a matter in unison and never spoke out of line. Anyone's opinion meant nothing once a decision was made.
The councils leader, Worrin, sat writing out a set of new laws when Stephan bursted through the doors.
"What is it, child? What brings you to us in such an immature manner?"
"My sister..." Stephan breathed. "She has fallen to her death. It was a tragedy." Through this he had shed a few tears that could have been mistaken for sweat.
"The queen has reached her demise?" Worrin asked in disbelief. She had been announced as Queen not to long ago and had reached the same fate as that of her parents. As suspicious as this was, Worrin swore to himself that he would look into the suspicious events happening lately.
"Who will take the throne now?!" asked another member, Thomas. He was the member to show the most of expressions concerning dire matters. As of now he looked from Stephan to Worrin in complete shock. "It's so, so sudden that this could happen."
"Indeed," spoke Hilda. "And Stephan is far to young to put himself in such a position." Her face was burnt on one side from an accident that involved Taylor years ago. It was her memory loss that kept her from reporting him for his actions.
"No! I may be young but I am knowledgeable in our kingdoms culture and history. I have studied ever since I declared I would take my father's position one day. It makes sense for his son to become king under a situation like this." Stephan stepped into the room further and slammed his hands on the table with a flare. "You have to let me become king. I will treasure my lessons and teach them to our future generations and honor what legacies my family could have led."
The council members shared a look, telepathically making a decision.
Stephan stared in longing, hoping to have them fulfill his lon lasting wish.
With a flick of his finger Worrin spoke firmly, "You, Stephan, shall become king. You shall live to the words you have spoken this day and lead our kingdom into a history of glory."
Hilda stood and stared him straight into the eyes. She stared deeply and hoped her thoughts would reach him as she spoke, "You will pass on what words you have learned from the previous king and live in honor of who he could have been."
Another member, Ulisses, stood alongside her. "If not, our kingdom will fall to ruin with you as the main reason as to why."
And finally came Breece. Breece did not stand for he could see the future. He knew of the outcomes and possible reasons as to why they would come and could not stand for a king that would betray the kingdom. Instead of giving words that would stick to Stephan he gave a cold stare and nodded, Breece was incapable of speaking of the future in terms of ruining certain outcomes.
His words could easily reign death in but because of his devotion to letting the current future happen, Breece could not speak the truth. Instead, that would be left to the living, breathing, future Queen...
