Chapter 13:
A Sorry Morning

Ruby woke up in the morning sore from the night before. She looked behind her and saw Weiss holding her close. Ruby wiped her eyes and stretched her arms, making them pop. She looked at the door and saw it cracked open with the light off. She checked the time on her scroll: 9:23 am, December 15th. She got out of bed, waking Weiss up. "Good morning, sleepy." Weiss said, rubbing her eyes. "Good morning. When did I go to sleep?" Ruby asked. "Around 6:30." Weiss said. "Damn it. Did you eat?" Ruby asked. "No, Raven had to go shortly after you went to sleep and I was really tired. Yang and Blake stayed for the night." Weiss said as she got out of bed and stretched. Ruby grabbed her hurt arm and groaned. "You okay?" Weiss asked. "Yeah, just sore. I must've slept on it wrong." Ruby said. She let go of her arm and grabbed her hoodie out of the closet. "How did you sleep?" Ruby asked as she put on the hoodie. "Not too good, not too bad. My leg hurt from how I was sleeping so I moved a bit. I was afraid to wake you up." Weiss said, smiling. "How about you?" Weiss asked. "Pretty good. My throat is still a bit sore, too." Ruby said. "I'm gonna go make breakfast. Meet you downstairs!" Ruby said as she left the room. She saw a door half opened and walked over to check it and saw Yang and Blake sleeping. She smiled and quietly closed the door. She started to walk downstairs when she heard the TV downstairs. Ruby cautiously walked downstairs and peaked into the living room. "Raven?" Ruby asked as she looked around the corner. "Oh, good morning Ruby!" Raven said from the couch. Ruby let out a sigh of relief. "How are you feeling?" Raven asked as she stood up. "Not too bad. I'm making breakfast, any suggestions?" Ruby asked. "Got any toast?" Raven asked. "I'm sure we do somewhere." Ruby said. She walked into the kitchen and saw a familiar canteen on the Island in the middle of the kitchen. She also saw the fridge opened. "Uncle Qrow?" Ruby asked. "Ruby! You're up!" Qrow said, quickly closing the fridge. "Good morning!" Qrow said. "Good morning!" Ruby said back. "I thought you gave up on drinking?" Ruby said, looking at the canteen. "I did, it's just full of water now." Qrow said, looking at the canteen. "Sorry for not saying that I was coming, it's just that when Raven told me something bad happened to you, I freaked out and came as fast as I could." Qrow said. "It's okay, Uncle Qrow. I'm making breakfast, so if you want to wait at the table, that would be fine." Ruby said, grabbing the bread off the top of the fridge. "Or, you can go check on Weiss and wake the others." Ruby added. "I'm gonna go wake the others. Your arm doing okay?" Qrow asked. "Not exactly. It hurts like hell, but that's normal after yesterday." Ruby said, grabbing her arm. "Well then take it easy, let someone else cook." Qrow suggested. "No, I've got it." Ruby said. She pulled out the toaster and plugged it in. She grabbed some bread and put them in the toaster, turning it on. "Raven?" Ruby said. "Yes Ruby?" Raven asked. "Can you please go get the Coffee machine going? Make yourself some coffee, I'll make everyone else's soon." Ruby asked. "Sure! Where are the mugs?" Raven asked. Ruby pointed to a cupboard above the sink while she grabbed some jelly out of the fridge. Raven grabbed the mugs out of the cupboard and put them on the counter, taking one over to the coffee machine. Qrow got to the top of the stairs and walked to the master bedroom, knocking on the door. "Weiss, you okay?" Qrow asked. "Qrow? Uh... yeah, I'm fine! Be out in a minute!" Weiss yelled through the door as she got dressed. Qrow walked over to the other door and opened it slightly, seeing Yang waking up. "Hey, Firecracker." Qrow said to Yang as she started to wake up.  "Good morning Uncle Qrow." Yang said as she stretched. She yawned, accidentally waking up Blake. "Good morning, Yang." Blake said.  "Sorry! Didn't mean to wake you!" Yang apologized. "I'm going to wait downstairs in the dining room." Qrow said. "See you there!" Yang said. "How the hell do you make homemade coffee taste this good?" Raven asked after taking a large sip of her coffee. "Trust me, I have my ways!" Ruby said, smirking. "Ruby!" Weiss hollered from upstairs. "Coming!" Ruby yelled back. "Can you please get the toast?" Ruby asked. "Of course!" Raven said. Ruby ran upstairs and opened the bedroom door. "Yeah? What's up Weiss?" Ruby asked. "Look above you." Weiss said with a smile on her face. Ruby looked up and saw a Mistletoe. "Oh you cheeky little Ice Queen you!" Ruby said, laughing. Weiss walked over to Ruby and grabbed her by the side and kissed her. Ruby was surprised, but kissed back, putting a hand on Weiss' face. "Aww, look at them!" Yang said to Blake from the hallway. Ruby and Weiss stopped kissing and blushed looking at them. "How long have you two been standing there?" Weiss asked. "Does it matter?" Ruby asked her. "No, it doesn't." Weiss said, giving Ruby a hug. "I love you, Weiss." Ruby said to her. "I love you too, Ruby." Weiss said back. "Come on Blake. Let's go downstairs." Yang said, grabbing Blake's arm. "Come on, let's go downstairs." Ruby said to Weiss. "Yeah, let's go." Weiss agreed. The two held each other's hand and made their way downstairs. When they got downstairs, Qrow and Raven were laughing in the kitchen. "Go sit at the table please Weiss." Ruby asked. Ruby walked into the kitchen and saw the two drinking coffee and laughing over old memories. "What's this? Are you two finally becoming family again?" Ruby said, laughing. "Go, sit. I've got this!" Ruby said as she ran around the kitchen really fast, getting all the plates ready. Ruby grabbed the mugs and took then to the table. "Chocolate coffee for Weiss, sugar filled coffee for me, tea for Blake, and black coffee for Yang." She said as she set down everyone's coffee. "Be right back with all the food!" Ruby said, running to the kitchen. When she came back, everyone was laughing except Raven. "Yeah, I was pretty stupid back then." Qrow said, laughing. "Just be glad we only gave you a black eye!" Raven said, chuckling a little. Ruby walked around giving everyone their plates and then sat down next to Weiss. Ruby cleared her throat to get everyones attention. "Thank you all for coming, I'm sorry we've been having a rough couple days. We're both just glad that we have a good family!" Ruby said , smiling the whole time. "Hey, I was there for you on your way to Mistral, I'm not leaving you hanging." Qrow said. "Thank you all." Ruby said. Ruby grabbed her toast and put some jelly on it. Her arm started to shake. Yang looked at Ruby and saw her arm shaking. "Ruby, it's okay. Try to be calm." Yang said, talking about her arm. Ruby set down her toast and grabbed her arm. Her arm kept shaking and Ruby winced in pain. "Ruby? Are you okay?" Weiss asked. "I don't know! Fuck, it hurts!" Ruby said loudly and painfully. Weiss grabbed Ruby's arm and rubbed it, making it shake less. Ruby looked at Weiss, and she looked at her with a worried look on her face. Weiss grabbed Ruby's hand, which made it stop shaking. "I'm so sorry! I'm sorry!" Ruby said as she put her head on the table and started crying. "Ruby, it's normal. My arm still shakes. You don't have to apologize." Yang said. Weiss put her other hand on Ruby's shoulder. "Ruby, we're all here for you." Weiss said, making her look up. Ruby let go of Weiss' hand and stood up. "I'll be in the basement." Ruby said, still with tears in her eyes. She walked to the basement and closed the door behind her. "You two go check on her, we've got this." Yang said to Qrow and Weiss. They stood up and walked to the basement stairs. Weiss opened the door and started to walk downstairs. When she got downstairs, Ruby wasn't there. Weiss walked over to a barrel and opened up the workshop. "Woah, that's pretty cool." Qrow said. Weiss looked in the workshop and saw the cork board on the wall was slightly opened. She grabbed it and pulled it, revealing a secret room. "I'll go first." Weiss said. "I guess I'll look at the ground." Qrow said. Weiss crawled into the tunnel and started crawling forwards, Qrow followed behind her. Weiss got to the room and looked around, noticing a door cracked open. She walked to the door and opened it.
