I was really upset with my mom. She wouldn't stop bugging me about meeting with Lindy today. But I'm over it now. Lindy is my 10 year old cousin, she's really sweet and silly. She's like a little sister to me. Mom always makes me hang out with her on Fridays since she didn't have an older sister. So guess where I am right now. In front of Lindy's house, waiting for someone to open the door.

"Hello, Vanessa." My aunt Caroline said while opening the door. "Lindy will be down in a minute."

"Hey, Aunt Car... How have you been?" I love my aunt Caroline. She is my favorite aunt. She so nice and whenever I need someone to talk to, I talk to her. And well my best friend, Amber.

"I've been good. How have you been?" She smiles stepping outside to give me a hug. "What have you been up to?"

"I'm good and nothing much. Work and stuff."

"And boys?" She asks wiggling her eyebrows.

"Well...I um.." I let my voice trail off. I don't know if I should tell her about my date with Nick. I mean it's on Sunday.

"Spill." She says in a serious tone. I nod.

"Well I sorta have a date on Sunday with a guy named Nick." Fortunately Lindy appeared before this conversation could continue. "Hey Lindy, ready to go?"

"Yep. Bye mom." Lindy says skipping to my car with a bag slung across her shoulder.

"I hope you don't mind. But Lindy wanted to spend the weekend with you." My aunt smiled and gave me another hug.

"No, no. That's great! I love spending time with her." I smile heading to my car.

"Have fun!!"

***2 hours later**

"Okay Lindy." I say handing her an ice cream cone. "I have to go to my friend, Amber's house. Do you want me to drop you off at my house?"

"No. I wanna go with you." Lindy licks the ice cream and looks up at me. I'm not sure if I can actually take her. Amber said that she needed help picking an outfit for a party she was going to. I didn't want to take Lindy because I wanted some girl time with Amber.

"Are you sure? I think Auntie Kate would love to see you. Besides I won't be gone that long." I tell her as we walk back to my house. The ice cream shop was a couple blocks from my house and Lindy wanted to walk, so I left my car at home.

"Okay." Lindy seemed to be in deep thought. Her forehead creased and she raised her pinky. "Promise that you'll be back soon."

"I promise." I wrap my pinky around hers just as we made it to the street I live on. "Auntie Kate will be so happy to see you."

As we got to my house, I turned to Lindy. She was smiling. I opened the door and walked toward the kitchen where my mom was.

"Hey mom." I walk toward her and give her a quick peck on the cheek. "I'm going to Amber's house. Lindy is here. Is it okay if I go?" I ask with hopeful eyes. Last time my mom didn't let me go because Lindy was here. "I promise I'll only be out for a few hours."

"I don't know." My mom frowned slightly. "What time will you be back?"

"Um.." I look at my phone, it's 4:30. "I'll probably be back around 7:00. Is that okay?" The party starts at 8, so I was going shopping with Amber.

"Okay. What does Amber need anyway?" Wow mom, really? I can't just hang out with her because I want to. I mean we've been best friends for almost 7 years.

"Nothing much. I'm just gonna go shopping with her and help her get ready. She is gonna go to a party tonight." My mom gives me a look before nodding her head.

"Alright, but make sure you're back by seven-thirty. And no boys, you've got a date with Nick remember. Also be careful." My mom loved Nick. His mom is my mom's closest friend. The only reason I'd agreed is because we've been best friends for 10 years. Nick is my guy best friend, so we hangout all the time. The thing is, my mom wants me to start dating him. Ha! Yea right.

"Mom, I'm 19. I can take care of myself. I'll be back in a few hours. See you at dinner." I kiss her cheek and say goodbye to Lindy.
