Authors Note*

This is being posted way later than I would've liked to post. I had a lot of issues with saving and having to rewrite chapters and such. ANd my phone note had gotten deleted in the mix. I'm sorry for trying to juggle things around I'm going to try to improve my time management with my posts so hopefully, they'll get better with time. I'm also thinking about making a playlist for all the music I listen to while typing each chapter if any of you might be interested in that. I also have been through around ideas off possibly different points of view from Maddox and Ky if you guys would be interested in that. Enjoy as I try to improve a few things in the next few chapters. Thank you for the few reads I've gotten so far. It's kind of short but hopefully, I can get the brain juices going to extended my chapter for everyone's sake.

The hot water ran down my back relieving some of my stress of the day. I could hear some of the girls still standing around chatting and catching up about their summers in which some hadn't seen the others. The sounds distant in my mind as my thoughts were cloudy from the day's events. I still don't understand quite why Ky had all of a sudden came to town and my school for that matter. I hadn't talked to him in two months after I got on that plan from Georgia at the end of summer. I hang my arms from my shoulders as I still remember the warmth of our embrace at the check-in at the airport, I felt like it was the worst day of my life having to leave Ky like I'd know him my whole life instead of the short four months I had. I knew his background was rough and he had plenty on his plate to deal with but I never thought that I would be shoved off that plate like a disregarded scrap that wasn't important anymore. I didn't stand much longer knowing Dox was waiting outside for me. I never quite understood why I always rode with Dox I had gotten my license the same year he did and had a car of my own but still stuck with him. I pulled a pair of athletic shorts up my legs plopping down on the bench to slide my Air Forces on my tiny feet I grab my bag and slowly made my way to the parking lot to Dox.

I slide in the passenger's side of the SUV tying my thick hair into a bun on the top of my head. "I see your boy watched you practice." He grimaced as he spoke the words with a little visual shake as his body shuddered. I rubbed my hand across my temple trying to relieve some tension. "I saw him too I don't know why I can't shake him," I grumbled not even wanting to speak of it as I caught Ky standing across the lot leaned up against the dark color of his challenger cigarette hanging from his lips. Smoking seems to be his new normal for the day though he always has smoked it was never this much when I was around. "He's going to die earlier if he keeps smoking like he does Dasiey," Dox says matter factly. I roll my window down hooking the Bluetooth up shuffling through the thumping playlist that not only sounded good over the system but would rattle my thoughts enough to forget on the ride to the mall that I knew Dox was dragging me to with no way to escape. Dox took my actions as a cue to start driving, my eyes never leaving Ky's large figure as the deep thump of music came from the back of the car and we were out of the parking lot. I sat quietly soaking up the last little bit of sun of the day that I knew would be gone by the time Dox got done dragging me around the mall like a doll knowing that I for sure didn't want to be there from the jump. "Girl you gotta stop with the mopy shit we're about to make sure you look bomb as hell for this party it's your first chance to let loose since you've been back from summer love," Dox spoke sincerely his soft voice still startling me a bit causing me to jump. "The only way I'm going to make it through this is if you feed me." I groaned back as I leaned against the dashboard undoing my seat belt as Dox pulled into a prime parking spot at the mall.

I take a deep breath preparing myself for this trip to the mall knowing I wouldn't be picking anything out was the relieving part. Dox has always had an amazing sense of style when it came to clothes of any kind. He's the person you call when you don't know what to wear no matter what kind of event it is Dox is gonna rock your socks off. Dox grabbed me by the hand dragging me slightly beside him as soon as we make it through the sliding doors he trudged towards the food courting knowing he wasn't going to get much done with me without feeding me first. As soon I plopped down I see Dox head towards the Chinese food part of the food court me not expecting any less. I find myself scrolling through Instagram on Ky's pages of all people. Focused on the picture of him at the beach arm around a very pretty brunette girl. His black swim shorts going to just above the knee showing his full chest and black ink that had been a new addition since I had seen him sitting smoothly on his defined chest. His smile bright reaching his eyes matched the long tan legged girl next to him her chestnut hair was shiny and seemed to frame her face perfectly which didn't relieve the itch of jealousy I was currently feeling. I sat hunched over the table both elbows on the table as I let my phone lay flat bringing my eye to Dox walking towards me with a hot plate of noodles. He sits the plate down and scoots in next to me as I slide the phone towards him that's not sitting on the table. "Damnnn. What was he thinking when he posted this like you weren't going to see it. He's digging himself a bigger hole for me to bury him in right now." He spoke gruffly. I just nodded my head in agreement shoving another fork full of my noodles in my mouth. He hit the lock button on my phone facing it down on the table in a sense of letting it go for my sake while I quietly finished the food he had sat in front of me not long before.
