Sunday was a day full of rest, relaxation, and constantly glancing towards my nightstand, where the new flower had replaced the old one, and the note was folded in the top drawer. But, by the time Monday rolled around, my thoughts were clear enough to dedicate myself to my schoolwork.

In art class, Professor Jenkins handed each of us a formal invitation to the charity gala that would take place on Saturday, along with two tickets- one for every art student and an additional one for their dates. She told us to let her know the name of our plus one by Thursday, so the guest list could be sorted out, and so table arrangements could be made. I read over the invitation- it was a masquerade.

"Are you going to ask Atlas to be your plus one?" I asked Zayn.

He blushed and smiled shyly. "Wow. Lucky guess. But, who are you asking?"

I had to think about it for a second. I had four friends on campus and two of them were already going to go to the event as a couple, so that left two options- Niall and Louis. If I chose to ask Niall, I knew he would find a way to make the gala more fun, and that it would be an adventure. On the other hand, if I chose Louis, he would be able to calm my nerves about attending such a prestigious event, and I knew I could talk to him. I thought of all the important, well-known people that would be there, and it helped me make up my mind.

"Louis."

"Thought so. How do you plan on asking?"

"Casually. I'll probably do it the next time the five of us hang out. What about you? How are you going to ask Atlas?"

"I mean, I guess I could do it when you ask Lou, but I'll buy her flowers. I want it to be like a proper date, you know?"

"Well, I think you should ask soon because I know that she'll want to go buy a dress. And a mask."

"Why don't we all get together tonight and we'll ask them then? Come over to mine and Louis' dorm. I'll invite Niall too."

"Sounds good." Zayn started to turn back around in his seat to focus on his art. "Oh, and Zayn?" He looked at me over his shoulder. "Her favorite color is light blue. If that helps with picking out the flowers."

"Thanks."

I spent the rest of class painting- adding shadows where they were needed, and adding shine to the melting fruit, giving the piece some depth. I was confident that I would have the project finished by the deadline. I estimated that I really only needed one more day.

After class, I went to the cafe, ordered myself a fruit cup, and sat down at my normal table. I took my laptop out of my bag, and checked my email, clicking on the first one to read it.

'Ms. Andersen,
I am sending this email in regards to my Business 1 course. It's every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 4. You have already missed the class multiple times, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt because I assume that you haven't been sent a revised class schedule. I hope to see you in class tomorrow.
-Professor Wright.'
