I was almost late for class this morning, because I went to hide in the kitchens to cry alone and lost track of time. I'd passed Lily, who was followed by Lorcan and Lysander. Now I was sitting in History of Magic with Scorpius and Rose, wanting nothing more than to finish the day, so I can go and sit in silence.

If Rose hadn't been there, I probably wouldn't have paid any attention at all.

'Note to self: Thank Rose for snapping her fingers next to my ear every time I zoned out in class.' I thought to myself.

At that exact moment, delicate fingers snapped sharply in my ears and I was pulled back into my studies. I smiled up at her and noticed that her eyes were red and puffy.

"Rose? You wanna take a break?" Scorpius asked. I nodded in agreement.

Rose shook her head vigorously "If I keep myself busy, I won't think-"

Rose broke down into tears midsentence. Scorpius wrapped his arms around her and rubbed her back soothingly. I smiled and packed up my books.

"Scorp, I'm going back to the common room. You can stay with Rose. Looks like she needs you more than I do."

Scorpius smiled and nodded, before resting his head on Rose's shoulder. I turned around and heard Scorpius say;

"I know how you feel. Shh. Everything will be alright."

I smiled. Scorpius and Rose were perfect together and I was okay with that. When I entered my common room, my ferret, Rubeus, scuttled up to me and climbed my leg to rest over my shoulders like a scarf. I chuckled and plopped my books on a table to free my hands, then scratched the top of his head. Rubeus made a small noise of fondness.

I remember when I six and first gifted Rubeus. It saddened me, because he was found in Grandma's back garden and she had given him to me in a small box covered in holes for him to breath. Grandma literally wrote a letter to the school, insisting I be able to bring Rubeus with me.

I picked my books back up and went to put them in my dorm. When I did, I heard a sound and looked around quickly to see the door (which had been closed before) closing quietly. I looked at Rubeus, moved closer to the door, and peered out into the hall.

"Hello?" I asked, knowing full well my voice was shaking in fear. When I saw no one, I spun a full 360 in my place and muttered "What the actual fuck."

I went back into my dorm and shed myself of my robes and plopped down on my bed, pulling out a book and hid away reading 'The Son of Neptune' alone for an hour or so. I looked up at the clock after a while and closed the book, laid it down on the bedside table and went to sleep; not bother to change out of my clothes or get under the covers.
