After walking for a little while, Wei Wuxian looked back to where he came, Lan Wangji was just a little blue speck in the distance. He pulled Apple along, just heading to whatever was in that direction.
One year passed, Wei Wuxian walked along, minding his own, then he seen a familiar face. Wuxian then went to greet them.
"Hey.... Uh Ouyang Zizhan, right? How have you been?"
The boy looked shocked to see Wuxian.
"Oh, master Wei! I've been doing fine."
He said with a smile.
" That's good to know."
"Master Wei, where are you going, why isn't Hanguang-Jun with you?"
Wuxian looked up for a moment, then back to the boy.
"We parted ways about a year ago. I'm just going wherever the wind takes me."
He said smiling.
Wuxian, " Well I must get going. Maybe I'll see you around!"
He hollered, walking away.
He came across an in, a little one floor in, with only a couple rooms, very small. He went inside, when some people saw him they started whispering among themselves. He walked up to the front desk and asked if he could have a room.... And some wine. He sat alone, listening in on the many conversations people had about him. There was one conversation that interested him, the talk of a town that still had puppets, faril ones at that. Later, after the wine was finished, Wuxian decided to go check out that town. Upon arrival, he didn’t hear anything, he stood outside the town’s walls, waiting. Then a crash. He went in to see what happened. Sitting on the roof, to get a better view he saw Song Lan. Song Lan? Why is he here? Wuxian asked himself. Thinking to himself, he lost his balance, and fell.
Song lan then looked to where Wuxian was, ran over, sword drawn.
(author's note: please remember Song Lan lost his tongue so everything he “says” is written on the ground)
Song Lan, “Oh master Wei, I thought you were another rouge puppet.”
“No, I just heard about this place and decided to come check it out.” replied Wuxian.
Song Lan, "Ahh ok."
"So, do you know why these guys are still here?" Asked Wuxian.
Song Lan, "No I don't, but I was at an in and I heard about this place, so I came to check it out, as did you."
“Is that so?” asked Wuxian. “I see you still have Xiao Xingchen’s sword,” he added
Song Lan, “ Yes, I often sit and play music to it, it’s as if playing it for him.”
Song Lan stood, looking down at Xingchen’s sword he had just unsheathed. The two were silent for a minute. Puppets came out of one of the homes, running towards them.
After the town was cleared, they went to an inn, the same inn Wuxian was at earlier that day, they sat and enjoyed some wine. After some time Song Lan had to leave, they bid farewell to each other.
Two years passed, Wuxian was staying in the Burial Mounds, hoping no one showed up. He's been there for about a month, frequently visiting the town for essentials. He was doing his weekly routine, when he heard a familiar voice.
“WHAT THE HELL?!” the voice yelled.
Wuxian hid, watching Jiang Cheng yell at Jin Ling.
“You were the one that wanted to go to Gusu, now you start acting like you don’t want to. Why?”
“I don’t know….. Sizhui isn’t there…” he said quietly, voice trailing off.
“Jeez..” replied Jiang Cheng.
Wuxian, being his curious self, followed them.
After a little while of following, they made it Gusu, Wuxian instantly stopped. It’s been too long since he’s been there. He wasn’t ready to see Lan Zhan just yet.
Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling settled at an inn, as it was getting too dark and Jiang Cheng didn't like showing up at places during the night.
Wuxian sitting on the roof of the inn looking toward Cloud Recesses. Lan Zhan, what are doing right now? Probably reading…. It's been a while since our departure, I think it's about time to come see you, don't you? Wuxian sat and thought to himself as he drank Emperor's Smile.
The next day, Jin Ling went running out of the inn,
"Come on uncle!" He said in excitement.
Jiang Cheng sighed, rolling his eyes, "Wait up," He said after a minute.
Wuxian laughed at the sight of Jiang Cheng being nice to Jin Ling. It took three years. Wow Jiang Cheng, you really are something else. He thought to himself.
Later that day, in Cloud Recesses, Wuxian saw two people he hadn't seen in a while, he wanted to run up and hug them, but didn’t. After a couple hours, the disciples gathered, they pulled sticks and were paired. Wuxian followed them as they went on their night hunt, he followed Wen Ning because he saw someone he had never seen before paired with him. He followed them for a while, then they stopped, Wuxian looked around in confusion. Wen Ning caught an arrow, before it could hit the young disciple. Then Hanguang-Jun showed up, taking the arrow. Two other boys came running up to them. It wasn't until one of the boys realized, that Wuxian realized Wen Ning was holding the boy's hand. Wen Ning then pushed the boy, only to be hit by the arrow himself. Lan Zhan pulled out his sword and split another arrow in two. A-Yuan and Jin Ling came running, A-Yuan panicked when he saw Wen Ning, and rushed to help the new little disciple carry him back to Cloud Recesses.
A couple hours passed, Wuxian was walking around, when he heard a flute, and went to find the source of the sound. He then heard Lan Zhan play along with his guqin. He found the little disciple playing a flute in a tree.
Wuxian came up behind the boy, grabbed the flute and covered the boys mouth. They waited, and when Wangji came into sight, Wuxian dropped down behind him with the boy in his arm.
"Aww, Lan Zhan, did you really replace me with this child?" Said Wuxian.
Wangji turned around shocked. To be continued.
