"Whatever you say All Might, I'll step up to this challenge! As long as you're by my side, I can do anything. That's how I feel anyway." - Midoriya Izuku~~~
(Reader P.O.V)
Darkness. It was the only thing I could perceive at this moment. Despite the uncertainty of where I was, I found comfort in the silence. It was like a cool breeze in summer, a rainbow after a storm, or the softness of a bed.Still, there were moments that this sense of relaxation would break. It always started with the sound of crying. I would search around in the twilight, trying to find where the cries were coming from. Slowly, but surely I would reach a state of mild consciousness. My eyelids were too troublesome to open but I strained my ears to listen.
"It's... dad, wake up, please."
Then more cries would follow. Another voice would break in, sounding just as broken.
"A-All Might, you need to eat something. You have been here all night."
Strangely, that voice belonged to the same person who cried after the other would leave. They would choke out violent sobs while trying to speak.
"Y-Y/N... I know it's selfish of m-me to ask, but please... hurry back soon! I haven't been able to sleep or eat. It's my fault after all. I-if only I had done something sooner."
I would feel a sensation on my clammy hand as they spoke, voice-breaking as they did.
"It s-should... have been me."
Then I would slip away again. This cycle repeated itself over and over like a bad nightmare. My once tranquil slumber turned into a prison in which I couldn't escape. Every day, I would hear people cry over my motionless body. I tried to reach out every time I heard the voices. The words would echo in my head but never seem to come out of my mouth. Then one particular day, a new voice broke through the silence.
"Mrs. and Mr. L/N, I'm sorry, but your daughter passed away in her slumber."
"A-AHHHH"
The strangled sobs flooded my mind, shattering the silence. I, as I did for the other voices, focused on the sounds.
"Shhh, M/N... it's ok. Our little girl finally gets t-to rest. She doesn't have to fight anymore... it's been fourteen years."
"Huuu!"
I shot up alert, hand on my chest. Bright lights blinded my vision momentarily as I tried to control my labored breathing. While I was trying to calm my racing heart a calloused hand grabbed mine. I looked to my right, face drenched with sweat, as I locked eyes with dad. He was in his scrawny state, cheeks stained with tears. I turned to my left as a force latched to my side.
"I-Izu?"
My hoarse voice whispered out his nickname. He only held onto my plush frame tighter while crying into my hospital gown. I closed my eyes and leaned my head onto his. Dad got up and embraced me as well. He trembled as he whispered into my hair.
"Y-you really scared me, Y/N."
I smiled tiredly and closed my eyes, responding.
"I'm sorry, dad, and to you Izu."
A nurse came into the room and smiled at the scene. He left momentarily and came back to get a doctor. The said doctor walked up to us and placed her hand on dad's shoulder.
"I apologize, but we have to run some tests. Afterward, you can see her again."
Dad reluctantly pulled away and left the room, Izuku following behind. I watched the door close before completely turning to face the doctor. Pushing back the...memory that occurred in my coma, I yawned and brought a hand up to point at my mouth.
"C-can I please get a glass of water?"
~~~Time Skip~~~
It had been two days since I have awoken from my coma. Apparently, I was only out for a month. Luckily, summer break was a week after the event took place and I didn't have to do any makeup work. With this being said I only had a few weeks left of summer break.
"Are you ready to go, Y/N?"
I looked at dad and nodded. We stood in front of the hospital wearing hooded jackets. The press was sneaking around trying to get pictures of me, or as they called it, "All Might's Incompetent Daughter." While unsurprising, it hurt. I knew the media would eat this up as soon as I saw a news reporter in the lobby while I was being dismissed. As soon as he saw me he began questioning me and jabbing a camera in my face. All I could do was run away through a fire exit.
Dad, who was in his scrawny form met me there and handed me a jacket. It effectively covered my face and consumed my entire body, much like a cloak. It had been one of his All Might form jackets that he kept in his car. With this disguise, we successfully made our way to the front.
I let out a deep sigh and slipped past the unexpecting news reporters. They, without a care in the world, pushed me around as I fought through the crowd. Dad was in a similar state by my side. Soon enough we were able to break through the sea of people. Without any hesitation, I slid into the passenger seat. As dad drove we talked about random things that happened while I was out. Soon the conversation ran dry. I scrunched my eyebrows slightly and looked at dad.
"How are things with Izuku?"
He visibly flinched and side-eyed me for a moment. He focused on the road once more and began to speak.
"What I'm about to tell you may shock you."
I nodded at him to continue. I, unbeknownst to him, already knew what he was going to say.
"I passed on my power onto young Midoriya. At first, I... shot down his dream, but after thinking about how he shielded you from that monster."
He paused momentarily, blinking back tears that resulted from the memory.
"...Then helped that blonde boy, well... I decided to believe in him and his dream."
I nodded and looked out the window, smiling.
"You did the right thing."
