~Present Day~
Alastor twisted the light bulb and finally adjusted the light to stop the flickering before walking away, humming to himself happily.
"You look pleased. How'd it go with the princess?" Husk asked when Alastor walked over to the bar.
"Husker, my good friend! It went better than expected." He smiled widely.
"Really? What happened once I left?" Husk asked as he was drying a beer cup with a bar towel.
"What was expected to happen of course. She came over and told me she had feelings for me." He chuckled.
"Well, that was obvious. And what did you say?" He asked.
"I told her I don't feel the same." He said casually.
"What?! Why the fuck would you say that shit?!" Husk asked, growing angry.
"Husker, relax." Alastor chuckled.
"Relax?! How do you want me to relax when you fucking rejected the girl?! Wasn't the point to marry her and-" Alastor covered his mouth with his microphone immediately before Husk could finish that sentence.
"Now, now, Husker. Keep your voice down." He smiled before moving his microphone. "I notice the concerns you have about my response but I can assure you everything is under control."
"How do you expect me to relax?! You missed the perfect opportunity!" He snapped.
"Did I now?" He asked.
"Yes! You rejected her and not only did you ruin your chances but you fucked up your partnership with her that helped you gain her trust in the fucking first place!"
"Oh, Husker. You really need patience for these kinds of things." He chuckled, sitting down on a chair.
"Then explain your fucking self so I can be fucking calm like you because right now I'm regretting all life choices."
He laughed. "Pour me some coffee, old friend, and pour yourself a drink to join me while I explain."
"Black, right?" Husk grumbled as he poured Alastor a cup of coffee.
"Of course. The more bitter the better." He smiled.
Husk just rolled his eyes before handing him the coffee and sat down with him after grabbing a bottle of cheap booze. "Explain yourself, you fuck."
He chuckled. "Well, old friend as you know I'm a man of skills and intelligence." He smiled.
"Oh boy, here we go." Husk groaned, taking a long sip of booze.
~The next day in Charlie's room~
Charlie was still hugging her knees, her head resting on the door as she looked up at the ceiling. She hasn't moved since she locked herself in after the confession. She sighed before standing up and sat down at the edge of her bed, looking down. I'm such an idiot. She thought to herself before Razzle and Dazzle appeared in front of her, holding out a box of donuts. Charlie smiled slightly, petting their heads gently. "Thanks for the offer guys, but I'm not hungry." She sighed. "I'm just a bit down and...honestly, lost a bit of confidence." She mumbled before laying down on her bed.
They frowned, looking at each other before Razzle got an idea and pulled dazzle to her closet.
Charlie hugged her pillow tightly before she heard her phone receive a message. She sighed and reached over her nightstand, grabbing it, and checked who it was from. It was an app that sends her inspirational quotes every morning that always got her in a better mood. She read over the quote. "Happiness isn't a person, it's inside you. You're the only person who can bring yourself happiness." She read before sitting up. "Fuck it. I'm Charlie Magne and one rejection won't get in the way of my happiness." She smiled to herself before getting off her bed. "No more depending on someone else to make me happy. I can do that all on my own and the one thing that will make me happy is working on my hotel and helping souls get to heaven." She said, ready to leave her room before Razzle and Dazzle stopped her.
