"Charlie?" Vaggie said softly. "I think we should break up." She repeated.
Charlie just stood there, frozen in complete shock. She couldn't believe what she just said since she never thought this would be happening.
Alastor noticed Charlie frozen in shock and walked over to her, his smile softened a bit. "Charlie, my dear? Are you alright?" He asked, helping her sit down on a chair.
"I...you...what?" She finally managed to get out, looking up at Vaggie.
She sighed. "I think we should break up." She said softly.
"But...but why?!" Charlie's voice cracked as tears formed in her eyes.
"Charlie...I...." Vaggie was about to explain until she realized the Radio Demon was still there, listening in. "Can you give us a moment?" She asked.
"Oh. Why of course! I'll go get dinner ready." He smiled widely, messing Charlie's hair playfully before walking out of the room.
Vaggie rolled her eyes before turning back to Charlie. "Hun, listen. I know this is hard and everything changed so fast, I honestly didn't expect myself to become the new patron of the hotel."
"Why did you exactly?" She asked. "You never talked about it before."
"I know...but I have my reasons." She said gently. "And now that I am, I think we should end things now before the day comes that I...you know." She frowned.
Charlie blinked. "Know what?" She smiled through the pain since she knew exactly what'll happen if Vaggie gets through the month and gets rehabilitated.
"Charlie, let's not play dumb. When I get rehabilitated I can't stay here, they're going to take me to heaven. That's the whole point of this. To send sinners to heaven once rehabilitated." She said softly.
"Vaggie, no. Please don't do this. You can't leave." Charlie begged, grabbing her by her arms. "You can't leave. Once you leave you can't come back." She cried.
Vaggie looked away, trying to hold back her tears. "I have to. Don't make this harder than it already is on me and you."
"I'd rather lose this stupid hotel than lose you, Vaggie!"
"Charlie, we both know you would regret shutting this place down. This means everything to you and when the next annual cleanse comes you'll be regretting your decision even more. Besides, this is your dream and you know I support you a hundred percent." She smiled weakly, cupping Charlie's face gently with one of her hands as she held Charlie's hand with the other.
Charlie just had tears running down her cheeks, completely heartbroken about Vaggie's decision. "But you mean more to me than some hotel." She just wished she could keep both. A part of her loved Vaggie but the other part loved the hotel and the good it'll do for her people, she just felt stuck.
"Charlie...I want to see my family. They're all in heaven and...I just miss them so much. Please understand." She said softly. "And if we break up now, it'll be easier than breaking up right before I have to leave."
Charlie knew she couldn't be selfish and keep Vaggie here unhappy so, she nodded her head and hugged her as tight as possible. "I love you, Vaggie."
"I love you too, Charlie." She said softly, hugging her back tightly. "We can still be friends." She pointed out.
"Bestfriends?" She asked.
"Bestfriends." She nodded her head.
Charlie smiled slightly before breaking the hug and stood up. "Right. Well...I should go make sure Al isn't cooking something inedible." She tried to chuckle but it just came out sounding forced and fake.
