A female, who sat in front of a banner of a crow-like bird made of gold and blue fabric with vines decorating the corners and edges, stood. She was about my height, maybe shorter, with a fairly nice build. Her eyes were a reddish-brown color and her black hair was in a bun, which was already losing a few strands. The large, grey hoodie she wore (probably her mate's since I smelt more then one smell on her) was loose and slightly baggy, which hid a good bit of her chest. She also had a pair of jeans which fit her thighs but loosened once it reached her knees (picture).
"Permission to speak?" she asked in a calm but serious tone.
"Proceed, Alpha Piper." Hunter said, nodding to her. She bowed slightly in respect then relaxed her body.
"A few days ago, my border patrol reported seeing shadows moving in and out from behind the trees. They didn't know what they are but, thankfully, they didn't get too close to my wolves." She said. The Alphas started muttering to themselves before Jason stood.
"My patrol guards reported the same just yesterday." he said and I looked down to see Hunter's brow furrowed. He looked at me.
"Do you think he can help? We've never heard of such beings before. You don't have to if you don't want to." My ears went back a bit but I slowly nodded and closed my eyes.
'Daemon?' I asked in my head.
"Yes?" he replied in boredom.
'Is there a type of demon that can take the form of shadows?'
"Yes, they are literally called shadow demons. I don't know why they are roaming around in the mortal world, though. They can be dangerous if threatened or if ordered to go after a target." I sighed and told Hunter. He hummed slightly in thought while the other Alphas looked at me in confusion. Jason stood.
"Permission to ask the long lost Alpha of the Blood Moon a question." he asked. I looked at Hunter and he smiled at me reassuringly. I took a deep, calming breath then nodded. Jason nodded back and bowed slightly in respect.
"How did you gather that information? How do you know for certain?" he asked and my ears went back.
"That's...none of your business." I said quietly. Jason straightened and I could see the look of uncertainly on his face as he sat back down in his seat. Hunter sat up in his chair and sighed.
"I plead everyone to watch out for any more moving shadows. If you see one, watch it closely to see what they want and if you can, try to capture one and question it. As Alpha of the Shadowed Moon pack, I will make sure to follow this rule." As he spoke the last line, he put his hand up in a swearing motion. Every one raised their hand and repeated his vow. Hunter stood and bowed in respect.
"If there is nothing else to discuss, you may take your leave." The other Alphas nodded and stood. Jason and two of the females and congratulated him on finding me again before leaving the building. Hunter and I following close behind. After we watched the Alphas turn into their wolf forms and dash off into the forest, Hunter had asked me if we could return home. I nodded, feeling tired myself. We turned into our wolf forms and we had a nice quiet walk the entire way to the pack house.
I would like to say I was relaxed the entire time, but something felt...off. I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. Thankfully, Hunter didn't let on that he noticed so he was still happy when we got home. Then again, it could just be paranoia playing tricks on me. Whatever it was, it stayed hidden.
When we arrived at the pack house, it was around 5:45, which was around the time for the sun to set. Hunter smiled at me and decided to drag me upstairs but he didn't take me to a room. He kept going until he opened a certain door and we found ourselves on this balcony on the roof near the tree tops, the sun close to touching them. Benches sat near the edge of the railing around the roof so he sat down and patted the space beside him. I smiled and did so. It didn't take long for him to pull me close by the waist and for some reason, I didn't flinch or pull away from him. I put my head on his shoulder looking out at the setting sun and I felt his head rest on top of mine. He sighed contently and I smiled. I liked this. It was just me and him. No demons around (other than Daemon), no wolves, no eyes. Just me, my mate, and the setting sun.
We watched as the sun slowly sank into the horizon and when the sun was about half way gone, he lifted his head and looked at me. I looked at him and he smiled before leaning down at kissing me on the lips. And for once, I expected it and I'm proud to say that I finally kissed back.
