I limped weakly along the sand, coughing and gasping for any sliver of water I could get. I'd been sailing on my raft and now I had finally found land, after months of sailing and I was seriously starving and thirsty. I managed to get to the edge of the shore, and collapsed to the ground. I noticed several shapes running up to me through my heavily blurred eyesight. One of them crouched down. It had black fur, piercing blue eyes and a few scratches on its body. It knelt down to me and gently cupped my head.
"Get this one somewhere safe! We need to help them before it's too late!" it shouted to another shape. As it approached me, I felt my eyes become heavy and my sight completely went dark. I woke up to find myself looking at a pair of legs and a big tail. I was being carried over something or someone's shoulder. I weakly lifted my head up and looked back at whatever was carrying me.
"Please...don't hurt me..." I feebly begged but all they did was make a gentle shh sound. I tried to move but my body was far too weak.
"Shh, calm yourself. Save your energy." a gentle voice said. I lost all consciousness and my head fell limp, smacking against their back. I then woke up later to find myself in some sort of hut with some sort of creature that looked like a humanised Bengal tiger, washing my clothes in some sort of mixture.
I looked down and saw I was completely nude except for a piece of loin cloth covering my groin. I tried to sit up, but a painful cough shot through my body, causing me to gasp in pain. Another one, a creature that looked like a humanised snow leopard, placed her hand on my shoulder.
"Easy, easy little one. You're safe with us. You were at the edge of the shoreline and Sevlar found you. Kaiwa brought you here and ordered us to take care of you. You're going to be fine. Your lungs took a lot of suffering from barely having any water or food, and this soup will help you." she said as she held out a bowl of some sort of purple liquid. I looked at it in disgust. The snow leopard brought a little to my mouth using a wooden spoon. I recoiled at the smell.
"Ugh, smells awful." I said with a groan.
"I know it does. But this mixture will help your lungs relax and help get you the food and water your body needs. Please eat it." the snow leopard said and I sighed before opening my mouth. She gently put the spoon in my mouth and the taste of the soupy stuff wasn't actually that bad. Soon the soup was gone and I felt my lungs start going back to normal. Soon the same black shape, now looking like a humanised wolf, that had found me entered the hut and I backed up a little in fright. The wolf put a hand on my shoulder.
"It's ok. You're in safe hands now. My name is Sevlar." they said with a male voice and I felt a little calmer.
"Nice to meet you." I said in uncertainty. Sevlar gently patted my shoulder
"What is your name?" he asked me. I cleared my throat gently.
"My name is Ethan." I replied.
"Well Ethan, you're gonna be fine here. If we hadn't found you, you'd probably have died. We managed to get you to our village, and it's now your new home. I am sorry to say the raft you were found nearby was too badly damaged and it sank before we could get it. But we did manage to get a few things off it, if that's any consolation. Namely a few crop plots, your hammocks and some boxes of food that we had found on the raft. But everything else was sadly lost before we could get it all." Sevlar said warmly. Knowing that my old home was now gone, I was in a lot of shock. I soon felt my eyes begin to water and my lips quiver. I couldn't hold in the shock and began to quietly sob, tears falling from my eyes no matter how much I tried to stop them. Sevlar gently wiped my eyes and held me close as I sobbed into his chest. He gently patted my back as I felt tired from crying. Sevlar stroked my hair and whispered comforting words to me before he laid me back down on my bed in the hut.
"It is ok, you will never be harmed with us. We will always look out for each other. Especially the newest member of our family." he said warmly. I nodded and he patted my arm gently before he left the hut. I just closed my eyes and let sleep overcome me. I had no idea what these people were like, but I guess I had no choice. This was gonna be my new family, after all.
Little side note, Sevlar is MY character. I own none of the others here. So if you wanna use him, be sure to ask me for permission, because I paid for that art of him!
