"Superman ? In Gotham?" What are you doing here? Isn't Metropolis your turf?" Question after question was asked. She was confused. Understandable.

The only thing I could think to say was, "...hi..." As if it couldn't get any more awkward.

Blinking a few times she hesitantly waved back with an increasingly confused expression and muttered back, "um....hi.... to you too?"

~C'mon Clark, you more eloquent and witty than this.~

"Sorry about that, I came to help but you already have everything under control here. It was kind of surprising to see a one hit K.O. by someone other than another leaguers. Nice Moves."

Her stance had finally become less hostile, shoulders and fist dropping to a more relaxed position. Stooping quickly to pick her purse back up she never took her eyes off me. Apparently she wasn't careless, despite knowing she'd already knocked out one thug and must have thought of me as one in disguise. Smart. At least someone is being careful. The amount of time people have fallen for the evil Superman or Bizarro in the dark/far away/ from behind bit was getting old.

Shrugging, "thanks, I've gotta watch out for myself working here". Waving  her hand towards a nearby exit door. I could hear glasses clinking together and drunken laughter beyond it. This place was most likely a pub or pool hall. "Most people tend not to jump the rescue of others without expecting something return. Besides, even if someone comes to my "rescue" unless they can actually be of some help, what sense would it make to put them at risk." Her gaze kind of seemed far off for a moment but quickly snapped back and down at the would-be-robber with a hard glare."It's stupid and dangerous."

Good point.

"Ah, no offense," she apologized, "I'm talking more along the line of the Average Joe. You should know the type, hero complex out the ass but zero skills whatsoever."

"None taken, not just anyone can do what the police or firemen do. Even in the League, each person has a field they specialize in. And we try to always send those that best suited for the job." I was starting to ramble, but it happens too often. A new hero that has been doing things —solo— for awhile thinks they can take on every challenge, until we can hopefully change their mindset before it's too late. "People shouldn't just go looking for trouble that's way out of their league".

~the Green lanterns are an. experience each time one pops up. Guy by himself is hotheaded enough to put a volcano to shame. The amount of times—.~

Laughter interrupted my train of thought. Even though she was trying to cover her mouth to stop the sounds, her body was shaking from trying to hold it in. losing the fight she started laughing. A full hold 'your stomach because it hurts' laugh. Tears were almost falling.

"What's so funny?"

Each time she tried to answer she would laugh again. Eventually, it simmered down to giggling and all I got was "you should see yourself!" More giggling. "You're giving a speech like those awful videos they show in highschools telling kids not to do drugs" By the end she had already started laughing again, and I could help but join in. This felt nice.

Managing to get calm ourselves down, I offered to walk her to a more populated area. I had no idea where she was going or how far it was. She could have had a car nearby for all I know.  Well,  what's done is done. We had finally gotten a few blocks from the docks when she asked if she could buy me a drink. "You know, since you were so heroic back there. There's this place I go to pretty often and it should still be open." Checking the time on her phone, it had only just passed 10 pm. "Plus, you probably need some caffeine in your system if you're gonna be here any longer tonight. A pick-me-up would do you good."
