If dreams ever had even a chance of becoming reality, then they must feel like what the past few weeks did for Clark. It was surreal, mind-blowing, every experience felt like... like... well he really couldn't put it into the right words. They couldn't always go out like other couples, but that was fine with them because they preferred the comfort of quiet spaces, or the times they spent watching movies in Ettie's apartment. This privacy allowed Clark to prove to her that his feelings, despite how she thought them to be fleeting, were strong and true. What had started as a crush had developed into something much more. He wouldn't call it love, but perhaps infatuation. He was strongly attracted to her. Neither of them felt that they knew each other well enough to be in love truly.
An important lesson that he had begun to learn during this, was that "love at first sight" and "true love/real love" are different things. The first just focus on what the other person makes them feel in an almost fantasy-like sense because you are often looking for what you have been emotionally or physically craving in that person. Sometimes to the point where you ignore major red flags or anything that goes against whatever fantasy has been built up by your mind. That isn't to say that some people don't fall in love at first sight, they could have a beautiful relationship, learning about each other after the fantasy has ended. Truly real love comes from knowing about the other and loving them including their flaws. No one is perfect and neither is love; it's about fighting and compromising, coming together during each other's best and worst. For both to be seen and known for themselves and what they do. After this is when the "fairytale" happiness begins. He just has to learn to help her feel this way.
During this learning curve, we find Superman with more pep in his step going to the Tower every passing day, everyone has taken notice. One goofy grin too many was all it took for the hotheaded pilot and the speedster to join forces and corner him.
"Alright, I can't keep dealing with that stupid look of yours", exclaimed Green Lantern, "what's gotten into you?"
Flash cut in, "Seriously you've been going around like you're flying on Cloud Nine. Better yet, you're acting like some kind of love....sick...!" His words faded into nothing, putting two and two together faster than Green Lantern, a look of realization dawned across his face. "No way! You actually did it!" Superman didn't know if this was a question or a statement. Either way, he just nodded his head, and somehow his smile shone even brighter. The rest of the day was filled with getting whatever details He felt comfortable sharing slowly more Leaguers heard the news and came along for some good-natured ribbing and congratulations.
Back in Gotham Sometime Later:
Ettie couldn't believe that job hunting could ever be this easy. Finding a new job seemed to just appear before her. But it wasn't too surprising given that Superman was helping her. That's how she found herself standing outside of Wayne Industries, and only slightly freaking out.
~I'm not even surprised he knows Bruce Wayne. I don't understand why he has to see me personally though.~ She thought to herself.
Steeling her nerves and taking one last "calming breath", she walked in and was immediately met with more hustle and bustle than she'd seen outside. Managing to squeeze through and reach the security desk. It was as routine of a security check as you'd expect somewhere that many criminals kept trying to burglarize or destroy. After making sure her person was free of guns, knives, Joker Bombs, or poorly made disguises she was on her way.
"Take the elevator on your right to the top floor Ms. Masters and good luck." The guard said somewhat sassily.
Choosing to ignore that snide remark, instead using it to feed her confidence via "challenge accepted", she marched to the elevator head held high. She knew what it was all about. While she was getting. Once she was searched and went through the x-ray, the guards were looking her up and down and laughing amongst themselves.
