Today I Became a Mother

I get up at six thirty to get ready to go, and at six fifty I get out of the building before anybody else so I sit in the truck, and I wait for everyone else, then Kenji comes, and sits next to me.

"Hey, cutie." Kenji flirts.

"Leave me alone." I say.

"Oh come on, you know you like me." He says.

"I don't like people who yell at people." I say.

"He deserved it-"

I grab his shirt, and pull his ear to my mouth.

"Don't ever yell at Ben again, or you will regret it." I whisper.

"Regret what? You're a girl, what could yo-"

I put my leg under his, and I push up while pulling his arm back, till I flip him over out of the truck, making sure he didn't hurt himself too badly, because I'm not that cruel.

"I can do that, and a lot more, so if you want to stay unharmed, I suggest you shut up." I threaten.

"Where did you learn that?!" Kenji exclaims.

He climbs back up into the truck, and sits down, but across from me.

"My mom made me and my brother take karate classes for self-defense, because she didn't want anything bad to happen to us, because she was protective of her children, now I remember it, just in case. " I explain.

I see everyone come over, so I step out of the truck, and stand next to Ben.

"Turn around." Roxie says.

Darius and Kenji turn around.

"So? What are we going to do with poop?" Kenji asks.

Roxie passes shovels and trash bags to Kenji and Darius.

"Ughhhh, no way you are going to make me shovel dinosaur poop." Kenji complains.

"Well if you don't want to go home you'd better shovel it." Roxie says.

"Fine." Darius and Kenji say.

"Enjoy cleaning this up boys." Roxie says.

Roxie tosses shovels to them, and they catch them.

"We're going to the genetics lab."

Ben almost throws up, but he covers his mouth, and stops himself, then Brooklynn takes a picture of Kenji, and Darius. We all get in the truck, and I sit in the middle, next to Ben, and Yasmina, then Dave passes a bottle to Darius.

"Cologne, that'll help with the smell. And the ladies what-what? But mostly the smell, the stench of dinosaur poo can really linger." Dave tells Kanji and Darius.

"What? But..." Darius starts.

Before he can finish his sentence, Roxie drives away.

Poor Ben, he is the only boy here, I wonder how embarrassing this must be for him.

I look over at Brooklynn, and she is staring at her phone, she mutters something, then she changes the way she was sitting.

"So, what's your next video? Ooh, maybe there's baby dino eggs in the lab, everyone loves a baby video." Sammy tells Brooklynn.

"Whatever it is, it'll be cool." Brooklynn says.

I hear Ben humming, so I turn my head to see what he is doing. I end up seeing him putting hand sanitizer on his arm, and I am astounded that people in this world actually do what I do, i stare at him in amazement, then he looks at me and stops humming.
