*Haydens POV*

As we pulled into the driveway of the beach house, I let the worries of college and leaving Kayla melt away. We only had this summer until I had to leave and I wasn't about to ruin it by worrying all the time.

I stepped out of the car and opened her door. The air was salty, it was refreshing. As I looked at Kayla, the thoughts of leaving tried to creep back into my head.

I grabbed our bags out of the backseat before leading her to the door. Cole rushed ahead and pulled the door open to allow me to walk through. I gave him a smile and as I entered the house, I took in the walls of driftwood planks, and the light colored floors. It was crazy that Cole's family was letting us spend the whole summer here.

"Hey, guys!" Kade called from the kitchen. I could smell the food even before I turned the corner. It smelled amazing.

"Hey." Kayla smiled at them as we turned the corner.

"Y'all's room is the one at the end of the hall," Kade commented, mostly to me, I could tell he had observed my annoyed expression as I fumbled with Kaylas suitcase. Why did I let her pack so many shoes?

Kayla led me down the hallway to the door at the end where she pushed through to a beautiful master suite. She sighed and collapsed on to the king sized bed. After setting our suitcases down by the closest I collapsed next to her.

"This is amazing." I said as I fell. I was honestly surprised Kade was going to let us share a room.

She pulled me to her, and the pulled herself up to give me a quick peck.

"Here's to an amazing summer." She said quietly, I could tell something had changed since this morning , she seemed much less stressed out.

"I'm sorry, about today. About how I've been acting." She said quietly.

I lifted her chin so I could look her in the eye.

"It's okay. Don't worry about it." I said with a small smile. I was more worried for her than I was about leaving. She had seemed so upset.

A knock on the door caused us to pull apart and sit up.

"Hey guys, dinners ready." Cole said as he poked his head in the door.

"Be there in a minute," I replied before getting up and helping her stand.

She smiled at me before letting me lead her to the door. We walked casually down the hallway, hand in hand.

Dinner was quick, and after everyone was finished eating, Kayla and I gathered the dishes and began to wash them in the sink. Everyone else had retreated to the back deck to watch the sunset, so it was just us in the kitchen.

"Ya know, I won't leave if you tell me not to go. All it takes is one word." I said quietly as I dried off a plate.

"No, Hayden. You have to go. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity." She said, pausing what she was doing to look at me.

"No, Kayla. You're my once in a lifetime, and if college is going to put a wedge between us. I don't want it." I said to her and placed my arms around her waist.
