I didn't dare to look back at the violence. I just kept running, don't stop running. Who are those people? What do they want? Are they soldiers? What will they do to them? Is Alex ok? Should I look for help? Where do I go? I'm alone!
I ran off the road, I don't think it's safe to be on the road right now, or anywhere on this island. I ran through the jungle. Crying, panicking. I nearly tripped over a huge stick. Regaining my balance, all I saw was green, green and animals that you would see in a zoo. I must've been running for... it felt like forever... or an hour. My legs felt sore and wobbly, my mouth was dry, my face was hot, sweat and tears ran down my face. I slowed to a stop as I thought I spotted a fire. A fire, and a little house. Is there somebody over there? Somebody I might be able to trust? Or somebody like those men with the guns? Should I risk it? I don't know anything about this place, for all I know, everyone on this island could be just like those people. I hid behind a big rock. Studying the place. I don't see anything, or anybody. I don't hear anybody. But that fire wouldn't be lit if nobody was around. Usually it would be out. As I looked around the sight, I noticed something sitting on one of the chairs. A shotgun. I bit my lips as I stood up from the rock and slowly made my way to the campfire. Quietly making my way over to the gun, I heard something in the house. People were talking. Saying something about something... pirates... boss... money... oh my god. This is a freaking nightmare. I slowly picked up the gun and examined it. It was heavy. I hope its loaded. Wait, why do I hope that? I don't even know how to use a shotgun, a pistol maybe. Not a shotgun. Is it like a BB gun? Probably not. As I was staring at the gun, I backed up a little and accidentally bumped into the little table, and then a few empty cans fell onto the ground and onto each other, making loud clank noises.
"No." I gasped and gripped the shotgun a little tighter, eyes focused on the door as I heard footsteps coming closer to the door. When it opened, I was greeted by two men walking out, they noticed me in the middle of their camp, a little shocked to see me. All they did was give me a creepy smile as one of them smoked a cigar.
"Oh, hello there." One said, the other with a scar over his nose just stared at me. I gulped, not letting go of the gun in my hands.
"H-hi-hi." I stammered. Can I trust them? Who are they? They look creepy.
"What's your name, sweetheart?" He asked, the man with the scar still stared at me. Had his hand on his holster.
"Um... M... Who are you?"
"Name's Ace, this here's Leo." He said, looking over to his friend. His friend, Leo, stared at me longer. Can I trust them?
"You have any friends?" Ace asked, looking behind me, and studying my features.
"No... we were attacked... by-"
"Pirates, no doubt. Hmm... good thing you came my way. You're safe here. Now, how about you put that gun down and we can get to know each other a little better. You didn't tell us your name."
"Uh... I don't know. I... I don't know you." I said shakily. He only smiled at me as he looked over at Ace.
"We're not going to hurt you or anything."
"Uh-uh. I..."
"Its okay. Just... put the fucking gun down and get over here."
"No. N-NO!" I yelled as Leo came closer, with his gun in hand. I freaked out and raised the gun in my hands, it was heavy. My finger was on the trigger as I aimed it at Leo and Ace. This made Ace raise his hands.
"You're going to shoot us? You look like you never used a gun in your life." Ace spoke, and laughed. I shook my head as I let out a shaky breath, and then I pulled the trigger.
But nothing happened. No bullets came out. But I checked it... it was full. I think?
"Uh-oh, forgot to mention. It was jammed." Ace said. Now his smile turned to a grin. a grin that made me feel sick. I freaked out and threw the gun at the ground.
"Please, please no!" I then was grabbed by the neck and thrown to the ground. I coughed as the dirt went inside my mouth. Leo then turned me on my back and stood over me.
"I'm gonna call this in to the boss. You have fun with her until we have to bring her in." I sat up and crawled away from Leo as Ace walked back into the house with a phone in hand. Leo pulled my back by my feet and when I was back under him, he swung his arm up and hit me hard across the face, the sting was crazy painful.
"Stop! Help!" I screamed as I brought up my hands over my face. He grabbed them and held them together. He reached over the table and brought out a long piece of rope, he began tying my wrists tightly together as I screamed for it to stop. After he did that, he pulled them above my head and held them there. With his free hand, he attempted to undo his belt, struggling, but he was getting it done.
"Oh god no!!!" I fought for my life. I fought hard, this took him by surprise, but he still was on top of me. I looked around me as I attempted to kick him off of me. I noticed that there was a knife on a piece of meat. A machete.
"Stop fucking squirming, kid, it'll be worse for you if you don't!" Leo said angrily. He then bright his face down to mine, that's when I struck back. I brought my face up and bit down at his ear, he shouted as I felt warm blood hit the side of my face. I bit harder and thats when he pulled back screaming and cursing loudly. I brought my hands up and sat up as I attempted to grab his pistol out of its holster.
"Stupid BITCH!" He punched me once more, I yelled as I kicked him off me. My hands were barely freed from the ropes, my wrists hurt. He fell back against the chair. At this time, I decided to crawl for the machete. I yanked it out of the meat and stood up, facing Leo. He had his pistol in his hands as he lunged at me.
"I'll fucking kill you!!" Thats when it happened. I never thought I would ever have to do it. When came at me, I swung the machete violently at him, screaming, shutting my eyes. I heard his gun off. Thats when my machete got stuck on something. I felt blood splatter on me, I heard Leo gasping, grunting. I finally opened my eyes... and noticed that my machete... was stuck... in his head. His body was shaking, his eyes were open and bloodied... looking dead at me, his pistol fell from his hand.
"AHHHH!!!" I let go of the machete handle and his body fell back on the ground. I was shaking uncontrollably. I cannot believe I just did that. I felt sick, I just... I took my eyes off of Leo's body as I heard Ace's voice in the house, hurried footsteps came closer and closer to the door. I quickly knelt down to grab the pistol. THIS IS NOT LIKE THE MOVIES!! The door swung open and I saw Ace, with his phone in hand, the first thing he saw was me on the ground near Leo's gun, and Leo's lifeless body on the ground with a machete in his head.
"Fuck!" He dropped his phone, I could almost hear somebody's voice on the other end. I freaked out and picked up the pistol from the dirt, aimed it at him.
"Wait, NO!" I pulled the trigger.
I held my breath as Ace's body slowly fell against the doorframe. A bullet hole right in the center of his throat. He was choking, bringing up his hands to his throat, blood slowly came out of his mouth. When he hit the ground, he stopped moving, stopped choking, stopped breathing. I let the pistol fall out of my shaky... bloody hands as I stared at what I've done.
"What did I do? What did I do? Oh my god. Oh god." At this point, I felt as if I couldn't breathe. My stomach hurt, my legs were like jelly... my eyes stung... I can't believe this. I stood up and searched for my bag as I struggled to breathe steady. I found it on the ground under Leo's body. This is a nightmare. I want my brother. I want to see Alex. I want to make sure he's ok. He has to be. He HAS to be. I want to get out of this... this place... I want to see mom.
"Fuck, man..."
I was buried in my thoughts, unaware of a man walking up behind me, by the time I heard the man's voice, it was already too late. Before I could react, I felt as if somebody had kicked me in the back of the head, then all I saw was black.
